I can't believe how quickly Springfield got these out after announcing them.

It's been several years since I've handled an XD. I had the original HS2000 when it first got imported. The XDM is a pretty good improvement. The trigger on this thing is very very smooth for a plastic fantastic.

The funshop didn't have a big selection of 10mm ammo on hand, just the Sig Sauer 180gr FMJ and 180gr V-Crown.

I put 5 rounds of each through the chrono tonight and got the following results:

The FMJ chronographed an average of 1197fps - 573ft/lb

The V-Crown chronographed an average of 1176fps - 553ft/lb

I'm ordering some more loads and hope to do a side-by-side in the near future.
A nine is fine most of the time, but a ten is zen again and again!

Welcome to the forum Nosferatu!  Congrats on your testing with the XDm. I would have thought the numbers to be a little higher with the Sig ammo especially 5.25" barrel.

I would have expected better as well since it's advertised as 1250fps. I've never used Sig ammo though, so I'm not sure how consistent it is.

This was also just a quick 'throw the chrono out, pop off a few rounds and see what it says' test in the backyard before it gets dark.

There was a bit of deviation between rounds as well, the low being 1132fps and the high being 1205fps.

The barrel probably needs some breaking in as well. I'll have to run a few boxes through it and then do some real testing.

Usually the Sig 10mm 180 grain FMJ's make their numbers and the pull-down documentations actually showed well too.  Not sure if the newer batches have change from previous ones.
My test for velocity 4/2/2015

So my trigger is not a fluke.  There is more takeup than a hammer fired gun which some may consider sponginess. If you compare this to other striker fired guns I'd say it is really good.  When firing there is nothing about the trigger that distracts which I can't say about my Glocks or even my P10C (which so far has been a huge letdown).  I need to dig out my Steyr and compare them.  While I haven't disassembled mine yet, the internals all look to be shortcut free (IE no stamped sheetmetal looking parts, sharp/precise edges, etc). and feels overbuilt. The pictures Intercooler posted are actually of my pistol.

On the velocities I feel the SIG ammo may have gotten a little weaker over time.  I bought 500 rounds when it first came out and it did feel heavier in the recoil department. I didn't bother chronographing it till several years in and by then the stuff I had bought was only doing about 1200fps out of my SIG P220., 1378 out of a 10" carbine barrel.  Still good value as the brass has held up well to my reloads.

Howdy all.

Thanks for info.
Any plans to run Fenix 180 FMJ thru XDM 10 5.25"?
Placed order to fenix.
Having thoughts of running thru XDM10 shorty 4.5".Might be a handful?

It occurred to me tonight that the deviation could be from the action unlocking prematurely. I had it happen with my delta gold cup years ago and a stiffer recoil spring fixed it.

Ive ordered a Wolff 22# spring and will test again with the same batch of ammo.
