Where I looking for a hunting 10MM it would be a Glock 40.
This makes a lot of sense. It's optics ready. It has a six inch barrel which is a minimum in some states. My personal favorite is that it is a polymer frame. I found out one very cold day that steel frames are best keep in the warmth of the body. Carrying the pistol at the ready after a long cold sit makes for one cold hand unless you have thick gloves on your shooting hand which I almost never do while handgun hunting.

There is a lot of personal preference here, but I would hate a Glock trigger for hunting.  I'm also in Indiana and carry my Kimber Eclipse.  Last year I actually took my buck with it, stillhunting a creek bank.  He tried to get up and took two 200gr XTPs through the chest at 30 yards and that was it.

If I'm shooting a 10mm in a pistol, I don't need optics, the open sights work just fine.  But again, personal opinion.

Now the IDEAL hunting 10mm for me would be a 1911 longslide.  If I ever build a 1911 from scratch, that will be it.

Looks like you have already made your purchase but the dead critters are stacking up to this one.

G20LS with Trijicon dual source RMR, no batteries needed here.

This is at 15 yards free hand 15 rounds using the Sig 180 FMJ.

How about an EAA Hunter for hunting? You can also put the bracket on to optic it and Henning I think makes one to replace out the rear sight. The large squared trigger guard allows for gloves to boot.

I'm a fan! I really like the no batteries part. Although I picked up (2) original RMR LED models (on all the time, auto dimming) from Cabelas for $350 each and used a free shipping coupon and a 12% cash back from Active Junky. So just over $300 each shipped to my door.

I'm gonna try one of them on the G21 long slide 460 Rowland conversion. [emoji51]

Well I will chime in and I live in Indiana southern part I hunt in Orange Co with thick woods.  I have a Glock 20 with a LW 6" slide and barrel that was machined for my Burris red dot.  I changed barrels to shoot lead gas check bullets from Bear Tooth.

I just got for Xmas a G40MOS and a Venom site.  I ordered a KKM 7" barrel.  My intention is to only hunt with this in 2018.  This will be a first for me.  I have a SuperRedhawk 44 to fall back on but am counting on doing it all with the 10MM. I have not hunted with a pistol before. Everything else but not a pistol.

If its a hunting pistol... Get the G40, no question.

The combination of easy installation of a red dot, longer barrel options (mine has a 7" barrel), magazine capacity, and standing up to the hottest 10mm ammo make it a no brainier.

My G40 is 100 yard accurate... But only with the red dot.

Plus plus 1 on this I did sme testing today witha load of 9.2 grains of Longshot Lrg pistol primer 180 grain HP from my model 40 7" KKM barrel

Something to consider n a hunting pistol. Temperature. If it's very cold where you are you might like the Glock over a 1911 due to the cold soaking into the steel frame. If you have to stalk with the gun in hand for a period of time after it has been holstered outside it sure is cold.

Been gone for a while (since I retired about 1 1/2 yrs. ago).  Enjoying my EAA Hunter 10mm.  Got 1 deer with it so far.  Using my handloads.  Just searched for a longer barrel (would like a 10"), but learned that no one makes handgun barrels longer than 7", and no one makes aftermarket barrels for my Hunter :(.  Darn!
