RESULTS!!  yeah, pays to have an engineering job... lol

Haha, damn engineers, always doing stuff right..... That is cool though, thanks for sharing!!!  That looks way more feasible that lugging a full chrono to the range.  This lil guy could fit in a range bag pretty easily

I normally load 200 gain XTP with 11.5 grains of Blue Dot and it runs 1200'ish fps.

I'm thinking of trying some of the 220 grain Underwood hard cast loads for both my G20 LS and my 10mm SBR.

:o  Mike D, please check you notes...11.5 is plenty for the 200 grain bullets...  :o

Wow!! Haha, all I can find in the book, lil ring binded book called, The Complete Reloading Manual for 10mm-about 35 pages or less for discription..

Is 200 XTP maxed at 8.9 Gr blue dot, running 1200 fps. You guys maybe be running more than 1200??  Although under the Hercules section they have 200 gr bullet (generic), but 8.8 as max, 1102 fps, 28k pressure.

Where do you guys find these loads?  Or is it just testing your own gun with a chronograph?

I'm interested for theory only,  and to read more recipes, learned in reloading shotgun you can never have too much load data and options.  ;)

Right now I'm just starting to reload and am happy with 200, 180 grns going over 1100, only reason I went 10mm above 45acp is for more speed and better trajectory for hunting.  As if I'll ever take a 50 yard shot in FL, LOL.  :))  But it's nice to have, plus I won't get bored at the range, gotta a ways to get a grouping at that range, but I find myself bored with most handguns for this reason, my cheap RIA Tac has re-introduced me to handgunning.... my AR (Sig MCX) feels neglected.  ;D

my Hornandy book lists 9.4 gr. as the max for Blue Dot and a 200gr. XTP. it also says the velocity is 1150 fps. I started reloading in the late '60s. I have always wondered about different books giving different load data for the same cartridge, powder & bullet combo. I know there are lots of variables to consider like atmospheric conditions, test barrel length, bullet shape etc... but you would think that the data would be closer. another thing that bugs me is if powder weight is so critical, why does Lee include a powder scoop in their die sets. talk about an in accurate way to measure powder! before I knew better, I did lots of things the "wrong way" with no catastrophic results. I have come to the conclusion that the book data is kept wimpy to avoid law suits. I still pretty much go by it but wish it were more factual.

If you're just starting out you would need to work up carefully to any of these loads to see how your firearm would handle it as you test them.

I loaded 10mm from day one 1990 before they listed Blue Dot (all hand weighed and verified).  My load was the Hornady 200 grain JHP (before XTP) 10.4 grains based of what I was using in 38 spl, 357 mag and 44 mag back then.  I did bump up my load to 10.5 and 10.6 grains as tested from the S&W1006.  It is a strong pistol and at that time I had upped the recoil spring to the Wolff 22 lbs spring.
Later Speer put out a supplement to showing a 200 FMJ using 10.5 grains of Blue Dot...hollow points are slightly longer than the TMJ/FMJ bullets so yes the pressure goes up a little more and so did velocity. :D

Later they revised that info down to 10.0 grains with their 200 TMJ  Which I posted here;
http://10mm-firearms.com/reloading-10mm-ammo/loading-for-delta-elite/msg49977/#msg49977

When the Quickloads program came out I asked guys to crunch the numbers for this loading and it showed the peak pressure at 42,628 PSI...velocity would be 1217 fps

--Edit by sqbullet to correct velocity from 2017 to the 1217 shown in the screenshot.  Thanks...The Shadow

Yep blaster, I agree, for all the talk of blowing your gun up, etc, you would think the industry would be a bit more precise, LOL!!!!

Thanks for the posting The_shadow, very interesting!!! It also made me dizzy, haha, too much variance in different loads!!  I guess a chronograph is in my next order....

I do find stuff like this interesting, though, I've read all about pressureS in shotgun loading, and have also read that it's almost, I say, ALMOST, impossible to blow up a shotgun with over pressure, most blow from obstruction.  There is a great article from a guy that tested shotgun barrels, found most could handle up to 50,000 in pressure...   :o Metallic/rifled reloading seems to be different, but none the less, kinda makes one wonder what guns really CAN handle.... but, I'm not gonna try that test, haha.  Just would be an interesting read.
