Sierra 180 gr. jhc

Hodgdon  load data says 180 gr. Sie  jhc.....I assume that's Sierra jacketed hollow core.  Is jhp the same thing? I have 2 box's of sierra 10 mm jhp..load says min.8.5 grs. Longshot....max 9.5 grs.   Col. Is 1.260....can I load shorter?  Say 1.250?...sorry for all the questions..1st ti.e loading 10mm.  I have longshot, bullseye, tightgroup, and red dot. Any help appreciated.  I'd be shooting them out of a new rock island 2011 fs railed 10mm 5 in barrel.

It would be safe to use that as jhp data. COL is gun dependent.  The usual practice applies to start at the start charge and slowly increase. 2/10 gr ladders work be adviseable. Should work out to be a nice load!

The COAL @ 1.2500" would be just fine!  I use 1.2500" for most all my development work sot that everyone of my 10's will digest them!

With LongShot I have seen loads up to 10.0 grains but that is pushing the limits of most brass and more so without case support.  9.6 @ 1325-1350 fps is what I set as max for my 180gr JHP loadings.

use longshot.  save the others for a different cartridge.  they are too fast for 10mm and create low power practice rounds with a real concern of an un-noticed double charge.  Unique is about the fastest powder that I will load in 10mm.

I load most everything to 1.250" as well.  My Para is finicky about ammo that is loaded longer.

The JHC is Jacketed Hollow Cavity. Same thing really. I have used them for years on whitetail and boar. Although our state prohibits hunting with a semi-auto pistol I have used them in my 44 mag. in 180 gr. for deer and 210 gr. for wild boar and I have recovered a few bullets from game and the are great. They give you a mushroom like the ones they set aside for pictures. For hunting? I wouldn't use anything else. I would hate to try anything even different.
