Need information on a CZ 97 (BD) 45acp

Starting my shopping for a 45 again.  Looking for a big gun, NOT carry.  I shot one of these guys many moons ago but have heard (third party) that these guns - CZ 97 only like FMJ.  Seems awfully odd to me in this day and age with engineering what it is now that this would really be the case.

Anyone reliably know if this gun eats JHP's consistently?
