If you got the money and want a super well made 10mm 1911,the Heinie longslide looks and shoots great.Good to see the 10mm on the cover of Guns magazine.

At a price of $3,295, It doesn't look as though they are targeting the average joe for sales with this yet another 1911 pistol... The CNC info is out there for the 1911 and everyone with a a machine can mill out a 1911 gun. Also I am tired of seeing or reading anything more about the 45ACP, and guns chambered for it! I love a good 10mm gun, but they are shooting themselves in the preverbal foot!

I could buy several good 10mm guns (4 or 5) for that price!

I am a 1911 guy, but I am with the Shadow.

For $1500 you can have a top shelf 1911 from a function/shooting perspective.

At 3200 you are paying for name and artistry.

Could be an indicator that the 10mm is becoming more popular.   8)

Mr. Heine likes 10mm 1911's. His words: "If I could only own one Pistol, it would be a very hard choice, but I believe in the end I would keep the 10 and let the others go." <- from http://pistolsmith.com/10mm/

BTW, Mr. Heine was asked about the  longevity of a properly built 1911 in 10mm:  http://pistolsmith.com/10mm/4763-question-mr-heinie-regarding-10mm-longevity.html

Interesting to note...In that thread the only load he cites power numbers on is his load that is 180 power factor.  That would be a 180 grain at 1000 fps, or a 200 grain at 900 fps.  This PF can be achieved with a 20,000-22,000 PSI load.

He suggests that one gun he sees regularly is seeing full-power 10mm loads, but then later suggests that Hornady's 200 grain XTP load is such a full power load.  We all know that, while that hornady load is very respectable, it falls short of what the 10mm is capable of by at least 150 fps.

I am not questioning anything he says per se.  I would guess that 90% of the ammo I shoot in my 10 is in the 200 PF range, not the 240-260 range the 10mm can produce.

But his thoughts on full power loads need to be considered when he talks about longevity.

I agree, but....
They are pandering to an audience who feels impressed with paying 3 grand for a pistol, in the box.  I've never paid that much for a firearm, not even close.  I wouldn't.  Not because I can't (although a divorce may be pending if I did), but the "bling" is for the movies and display cases of dead guys.  A bulldog ain't purdy, but the fru-fru pup ain't got a chance.  ANY market exposure is good exposure for this group of nuts (us).  Even the Ford Pinto will always be more popular than a Bentley.

I die a little inside every time I see the prices of these super expensive guns.

The pragmatist in me says "If you did have that, what would it do that your current pistols would not." The only answer I've been able to come up with was that it would make it look to others like I had money to burn... at least until they looked past the pistol :-)

I see it like DM1906;  ANY market exposure is good exposure for this group of nuts (us).
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.
