Yup! I really want to see how a 1911 holds up to hot stuff for 1000's of rounds!

And this should be different from let's say a Glock, exactly how?
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Intercooler

Next time I tear mine down I will show you. The barrel lug and slide stop are two pieces.

gandog56

I was talking about durability, not how they are made.

I'm on my second slide stop. Their is a barrel issue I need to pull it and get photos. Can't speak for the Glock... never have or will own one.

Intercooler

I took it apart tonight prepping for the new EGW block and spring. The  slide stop and slide peening, barrel lug and a weird spot on the ramp. The lug may last forever but I'm not familiar with it. I was going to take a picture of my barrel ramp divot but it wasn't showing up in the photo well. I took a small file and smoothed it out to see if it comes back. In looking at all the pieces and my talks with DW a week or so back they mentioned all three in the conversation as issues that have come up. Realistically only two of those parts will probably break.

My Fusion longslide has held up to m constant barrage of extremely hot loads like a champ. Still drum tight and yet silky smooth. 110% case support too!

Yeah, here's mine.

I'm wondering if the guy is thinking a 1911 might be weaker than say a Glock.

Intercooler

No. Remember earlier I said I haven't owned or will a Glock.

Intercooler. If you had to carry a 10mm as a ccw, what would it be?

Intercooler

As much of a lug as it would be (possibly correct shoulder harness) the 1006. De-cocker, DA/SA, tank tough and the most reliable even with 220gr's loaded in it. It's just one you don't sell because even if the trigger isn't the best the other pluses are a cut above!

pacapcop

That's a good choice. I carry it in Fall/Winter with Nuge Rounds. I have a Bianchi model #5 hip holster that rides close for it.

Well, about the only other choices are an EAA Witness, or a 10mm revolver.

Well, there is another possibility for you 10mm hunters. I have an AMT 1911 Stainless Javelina Hunting Model 10mm with a 7" barrel Longslide, that was made for those long shots. Has anyone on here had any experience (positive or negative) with this AMT Javelina? I just bought it a couple of months ago, right after I had previously bought the Glock 29sf & the Glock 20. And just last week, I bought the Colt Desert Elite 1911 10mm, and love the way it feels and points. Now, I have yet to take them out to a good shooting range and make comparisons between all of them, but I have shot them out back and they all are fantastic shooters. I will very soon, if not this week test them at long range (from 50-100yards), with the same ammo and see how they compare. When I do, I will post everything here for everyone to see. I just shot my Colt Delta Elite last weekend at an old dead tree (while I was dove hunting, waiting for the doves to start flying) about 50 yards away, and nailed it first shot dead center, and was pleased with that. But, this AMT Longslide Javelina is a pleasure to shoot as well, and functions remarkably. And for all of you Glock 20 and 29 owners, I don't need to tell you how well they shoot and function. Awesome guns to say the least! I have been a pretty much strictly a 1911 45acp shooter my whole life, but I have to say, at 58 years old now, the 10mm is now my gun of choice, and all of you 10mm people understand this I am sure! I have an Arkansas Razorback hunting trip planned for December, so after I test all 4 guns extensively this fall, the best gun and ammo will accompany me to take down a hog, in the beautiful hills of Arkansas!
