My first Glock mod OOOPS! (G20SF Trigger Bar)

In my silly search for a "better" Glock trigger, I filed down the "bump" on my G20SF trigger bar until it was smooth then polished it.  My reasoning behind this was that the "older" Glocks didn't have the bump, and this one shouldn't either.  There are many posts and YouTube videos showing this mod smoothing out the trigger pull.

Well... I'm glad that the part is only $15 because the Glock doesn't fire right now.  Without the bump the trigger bar slips partially off the firing pin safety (onto the angled shoulder) sometimes as the trigger nears the end of the stroke, causing a light strike/no strike.  Guess the bump really is needed on these bars after all!  Thought about trying to bend the head over a bit to get more contact and I still might try that but I just ordered a new factory bar.

This one left me feeling a little embarrassed... I knew better but I just couldn't resist trying it out.

Thanks for sharing the experience for the rest of us to learn what not to do.  I'm happy for you that it's an inexpensive part.  One nice thing about Glock is that many of the parts are inexpensive.

When I got mine I did the usual polish job and it helped quite a bit.  Still looking for other ideas though.

Last night I woke up and had an idea... I wonder if it's the over travel tab on the Rocket connector that's pushing on the trigger bar? Woke up this morning and swapped the stock connector back in, it works! Trigger bar stays fairly centered all the way through. Ran some Underwood through it today, no malfunctions.

Now I'm wondering what kind of other unintended effects that over travel tab might have on the trigger system.

Carrier21 over at GlockTalk did play with re-positioning the hole in the trigger bar that changed the geometry to allow a lighter pull and faster reset.  I thought that this was interesting but haven't tried any of these options.  Some day maybe.
