Grand Power P40 and some wear Im concerned about

Hey gang, Ive done my lurking, and am finally doing my posting. Unfortunately its under less than ideal circumstances.

I took my spanking new P40L to the range and hammered about 200 rounds of Magtech 180 FMJ through it without any issues. After getting it home I noticed a slightly flattened patch of wear on the forward bottom of the breech side rotation race, and a corresponding worn patch on the breechside forward recoil lug on the slide.

I have virtually no experience (a little Px4 dabbling when no one was looking) with rotating barrel actions, and want to poll some owners, users, and abusers as to whether or not this is normal wear. Pictures included, if I need to sign up for photos hosting for a better look, so be it, and I can happily take more if anyone needs a better look at something.

Welcome to the forum Speed_Weasel!  You may need some good lube one those areas.  But I don't thing it's that much of an issue.

Im prone to agree, I got a little antsy at the depth of wear though. Its about a ten thousandth of an inch on both faces. I figured Id ping any P40 owners that pass by and see. Ive sent an email to Grand Power warranty/service and will post back any contact from them.

And thanks!

From the importer's chief armorer this morning:

"Looks like normal breaking in."

No word on what wouldnt look like breaking in. I dont want to make a mountain out of a molehill, but if any of the Browning type guns Ive shot for nearly thirty years had bearing surface metal pushed out into burred flats after a 200 rounds Id have serious concerns. Ill run a few hundred more through it and see if anything needs polishing and go from there I suppose.

Can you circle the problem areas and take a photo with maybe flash on?

Speed_Weasel

Sure. Its tougher than I wouldve thought to get a good shot of, and even harder with the image size restrictions but here goes.
1- shows rolled edge of rotation raceway burr
1A- with flash
2- slide side recoil lug dent with flash. Might be hard to see what Im talking about but Im working on maybe adding a little green plumb line to the image. The face of the lug has been dented in around the finish wear.

I reinventoried my range bag. This was from 60 rounds, actually.

Speed_Weasel

1A, with flash, but provides detail from earlier photos that may have been lacking.

2, slide side damage. Of note is this impact would occur about halfway through the unlock and recoil cycle. Difficult to pick out the uneven, scalloped dent but its there.

I will check my 2 P40's sometime this week. Is it still an issue or did you decide normal wear?
