Experienced Gunsmith to Cut Slide?

I have a Witness Hunter that I put a Leupold Deltapoint Pro red dot optic.  The gunsmith i used did not want to cut into the slide so he made a base that fits the rear sight dovetail.  The DP if fitted on that plate.  Because of this, the optic feels like it is too high.  So I'm wondering if there are any accomplished gunsmiths that are able to cut out a recess in the slide so I can remove the plate and lower the optic some more.  The DP has a rear target site that I would like to co-witness with the red dot. 
Any suggestions?  I know the Tanfoglio slide may not have a lot of metal to work with, but I wonder...

One place several friends have gone is Ahlmans, which has a full machine and milling department. From what I?ve experienced, your standard Gunsmith will not have the needed skills and or equipment to do the kind of job your looking for. Just my two cents
