Neat.

One thing I always wonder about new technology like this is whether it can be adapted to be backward compatible with firearms chambered in more common existing cartridges like 10mm and .308.

Dropping the carried weight of those would be nice.
"The meek shall inherit the Earth" is a mistranslation. Properly translated it would say: "Those who have swords and know how to use them, but keep them sheathed, shall inherit the Earth". Carry every day.

I was considering the 6.8SPC for an AR.  However with things the way they are going I don't see that happening.  But surplus bullets in 6.8 may be a possibility.
Not sure if these variants will be used in the standard chamber of the 6.8SPC or it might need to be  modified.
I'll be looking at the specs a little closer.

I have a 6.8 spc and like it real well, very accurate and mild shooting.  It is a shame that new ammo won't chamber in the spc.  Don't need to be able to defeat body armor yet.

It may be possible with special equipment but that may be pointless at this time.

I'm sure that composite case will be changed to coyote tan prior to issue to the troops.

One thing they don't seem to address in the article is heat dissapation.  Brass cases carry a bunch of heat out of the gun that otherwise remains in the action or barrel.  This becomes a serious problem as soon as the rate of fire goes up much.

Good point. How will composite cases hold up to the heat of extended automatic fire? I mean machine gunners have melted steel barrels..
