The last 3 years I?ve had ground blind issues on my friends property with wind, and then last year I had it in the wooded distance right out in the open and someone stole it on private property. (a brand new $300.00 blind😡)This year it?s tucked inside a small grove of bushes / small trees, and can?t be seen from the road. From the looks of the grass, there?s a lot of of activity leading right up to the blind. I did put out a trail cam today, and will pull the card Thursday afternoon. If I get one, three, or none, I don?t much care. Ultimately, for me, it?s more about the preparation, the time spent practicing, and the anticipation when waiting for Mr. Big to come strolling out of the woods. As always, Saturday am should be a blast with the 10 😀

Good luck Kenk! I work the weekend and then I am off for 12 days. I too enjoy the prepping for the hunt. I have been studying public area on Google Earth and Basemaps and will be hopping around to a few places around Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties. Will also spend a day in the river bottoms near Henderson mostly scouting the land for muzzleloader season. This area of the river bottoms is usually pretty thick and can be tough to navigate, but the deer love it. Seen some nice deer in there during archery season but not within bow range. For the most part I will be using my Taurus Raging Bull 41 Magnum. I will have a Thompson Contender 30-30 Win (pistol) with me as a back up plan.

The best of success on your hunt Rooster. The contender should work well for you if needed. The property I hunt doesn?t seem to have an abundance of massive deer, unlike another friends 300 acre plus land by Sacred Heart MN (aprx 100 miles west of us) It?s down in the Minnesota River valley, and is packed with deer. I like my current spot a lot, as it?s only about 17 miles from home, and as long as no one swipes my blind or cameras, which was some what I?d an anomaly I think, it has proven to produce plenty of midsize deer. Big bucks 4.5 - 5.5 years are pretty cool, but when it comes to meat quality, I?ll take a hundred and seventy lb doe any day of the week 😀

They all eat well when butchered properly that?s why I cut up my own. Good luck guys.
