Found this old thread very valuable so here's our contribution and attempt to revive it.

Montana Bullet Works 200gr. WFN GC, 12.5gr #AA9, Winchester brass, WLP, 1.250" OAL.  1262fps avg. from a Guncrafter 1911 (6" barrel) and a DW Bruin.

Natl. Bullet Co. 180gr. FMJ FP, 6gr. Win 231, asstd. cases, 1.250 OAL. 1092fps avg. from the GI 6" 1911 and the Bruin.

We found it interesting that there were so few loads here using W231 powder. Although not ideal for the 10mm, many Practical Shooters have a LOT of it around. Out of curiosity, we are trying it with Hornady 200gr. XTPs.  If you've used W231 in the 10mm we'd like to see your results.

Firearm resale value should be your kids' problem.

In some ways, I hate to necro a topic, but thought some of you may appreciate it nonetheless since there isn't a ton of carbine data.

I got my 16" AR finished and was able to put my first round of loads through it.  I tested 4 different powders but only 2 bullet weights at this point but wanted to share what the chrono said.

The #9 powder with 155 gr xtp hornady was by far the most impressive speeds.

15.9 gr no. 9 powder

Anybody have any 220gr cast data??

Closest I have is the pull down data from the that section/post.

https://www.10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo-pull-downs/pull-down-master-list/

Click the link for the google doc, then filter by bullet weight.

Looks like Underwood is using Longshot and is well over the published data.

I'll note that I was beginning to see some flattening of the primers, but no swipes or bulges or anything of too much concern.  Though, I suggest backing it off slightly more than where I left off and working your way up to it.

Hornadys manual 9 said you could go up to 14.9gr of powder, but as mentioned, I didn't get that high myself.  Perhaps the longer barrel retained a little more pressure curve than what they were using with a 5" pistol dropping the pressures more ?.  This is why you always start low and work your way up.

Anyway.

16 inch barrel

light crimp

Armscor 180 gr jacketed truncated nose
1.260" COL  (probably closer to 1.258")
14.5 gr #9 powder

1560 fps average
972 ft lbs energy
