I just picked up some IMR 4198 for $36 and got quoted $110 for large pistol primers in the greater Los Angeles area.
How much are you guys paying from where you are at?

About the same in Northern Virginia at Cabela's - if you can find it.

$67.00 per 1K from my friends shop when they have them, did see some on GB yesterday going for over $100.00, just crazy prices

Locally (North Texas) there's a gun shop that always has primers. Last time I bought any from them it was $15/100 and they've gone up since then. I did however get some primers from Midway for $76/1000 Limit ONE plus their HAZMAT shipping fee.

The last time I bought powder was direct from Hodgdon's website. No markup on their price but do try to order as much as they'll sell you to offset the shipping/HAZMAT charge.

Here in the Alleghenies our two LGSs have some primers at $15/100 and powder is running $35-$45/lb.  The good news is we are still shooting with supplies purchased in volume in 2018. Bought cheap and stacked it deep. Primers were about $130/5k for Winchester (shipped) from Black Hills Shooters supply then. Be a while before we see those prices again me thinks.  We did have to buy a $40 pound of AA#9 for the 10mm;  Our butt still hurts!
Firearm resale value should be your kids' problem.

The Scheels outlet in Bismarck ND had Longshot on hand for 31.99 (18 Dec.), had son#2 get a few pounds. A friend at work has a brother employed at the Scheels in Billings MT, he brought back 3 pounds of BL-C2 for the same price per pound.

I haven't purchased primers or powder in years. I stocked up in 2016 and got 5K of primers for $125 shipped including hazmat and shipping. I bought the heck out of them for a month and bought them from other places as well. I have many, many thousands of primers large, small, and magnum. And I have many pounds of powder as well.

I went  kind of nuts around that time period also, just wish I had stocked up more on primers

I'm usually pretty well stocked but last year I slowed my range visits to once a month and only used 100-150 rounds per trip.

I scour the local online gun trader mag, Craig's list, and gun shows and have found a LOT of powder, primers and even factory ammo at pre-pandemic prices so I've once again started to shoot weekly.
Keep your ears to the ground, you may be surprised at what you find.
