A spokeswoman for the Czech firm CZ Ceská Zbrojovka has confirmed their intention on purchasing Colt. "We will inform you about major developments in due course," she said to the German newspaper Die Welt. If CZ is successful in taking over Colt it could lead to some very interesting things.

I love my CZ Dan Wesson 1911 10mm pistols. They're high quality. I hope the takeover happens. It can only result in better quality pistols coming out of Colt. That would be a great thing. Especially since I want a brand new Colt Python to accompany my 1995 Colt Python. A brand new CZ Colt Python would be outstanding.

I agree. Colt has been riding the brand loyalty train for quite some time. Quality has been mediocre at best. Value for your hard-earned dollar has been near non-existent. Dan Wesson does an amazing job of putting together 1911. Unlike Colt, you DO get good value for your dollar. I'd like to see it work, as much as I am not a Colt fan, I'd hate to see a legacy gun manufacture completely fall to the wayside.
