Years ago I stopped casting my bullets as the market was awash in cheap bullets. Now that they have either gone away, or are being sold at silly prices, AND I've moved most of my shooting to Tanfos, a few months ago I started powder coating my bullets in 9mm, .40/10, and .45.

I'm using data from powder makers on TMJ and FMJ and at higher than entry level loads listed I'm having great accuracy (=to or better than plated or FMJ) excellent feeding, zero bore contamination, less smoky range trips, and cleaner clean seating dies than I used to get with lead. I'm no longer handling lead bullets to size either, and never again do I have to deal with wax lube. 

I've been shooting coated bullets for 5 or 6 years now. I don't have any problem with leading, either my fingers or the barrel. I do a lot of revolver shooting and that adds another level of complexity to leading. If the throats of the revolver are more than .0005" larger than the bullet, hot gases will slip by the bullet as it leaves the cylinder and melt the lead on the bullets surface, which then coats the first inch or two of the barrel. My revolver came with throats .002" larger than the bullets and I was worried about leading, but the coating on the bullets protected against that as well.

Yep, I'm a fan of PC home cast bullets.

I powder coat sometimes, and sometimes I don't.  For revolvers I just like a traditionally lubed bullet, and I have loads for M1 Garand that are well known and I don't wanna mess with.

In general when working up a new load I will powder coat though.

I powder coat a lot .380 To 10mm , rifles don't cast so use copper coated

Yeah..I gotta get me some of that clear.  I have never been a huge fan of the "lipstick" look.

I've tried a number of clear, grey and silver type pc coatings and the problem for me with clear, and grey/silver is it's hard to tell if the pc has covered. Colors that are not similar to the as cast lead are perfect tell-all to coverage.
