Interesting, the bullets coming in under 215 grains. I wonder if the would be around 210 grains if not powder coated. Definitely not 220 grain bullets. I can see were some would consider that as marginal, but to me it makes a difference.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

There are some translucent /off color flakes in the powder, I don't see that in my Power Pistol powder but it could be something added.  However BE-86 does have some translucent and off color flakes (in my 8 lb jug some are even a rust color) don't see that in this powder.  I will say that I tested 8.4 grains of BE-86 under the New Speer 200 grain Gold Dot and saw 1231 fps & 1227 fps.
When I tested 8.0 grains of Power Pistol with the 200 gr. Hornady XTP it was 1170 - 1200 fps...

The_Shadow,

What gun/barrel length did you use for the velocities you quoted?

I think that this may be BE-86 and not Power Pistol...I'd have to test to see...

Kinda shocked to see Underwood move to power pistol, one way to tell for sure, do some night shooting, if you're blinded for a few minutes, power pistol! LOL
Any day in the country beats a lifetime in the city

This may be BE-86 and not Power Pistol seeing the off color translucent flake in the mix...

Has anyone reached out to Underwood and asked them why they are not calling them 215gr hardcast?

The_Shadow has posted a generous amount of data showing the 200gr XTP to be about 201gr (which is fine with me rounding it off that close) so I have a hard time believing they are loading 220gr. Technically that's about 2.3% off so ... not HUGE but would seem better to market it as 215.

When I order some more later this month I can weigh them myself and post here.

I cannot speak for Underwood but it is generally true that the marketed bullet weight is much like the marketed horsepower of a car engine.  All the more so for cast bullets since different alloys weigh in differently in the same mould.  Chances are Underwood has more than one source for their cast bullets so they take "best case" with bullet weight and go on with life.  Nothing dishonest.  Just life as usual with bullet alloys.

Interesting! That's why it's nice to do the pull-downs... many things found over the years!

Ah, yeah that makes sense. 215gr is still pretty heavy. I just ordered some to test :)

Coating adds an insignificant amount of weight. Far less than a grain.

Just posting to get that Chrome/Firefox crap off the front page. Please cary on.

RIGHT......a good ways off to be considered a 220 grainer.
