Winchester Ranger T 230gr + P, or Underwood's 185gr GD + P

9mm - Remington 124 gr Golden Saber BJHP +p

40 S&W - 155 gr Speer Gold Dot

10mm - 180 gr XTP

45 ACP - 230 gr Federal 230 gr JHP +p

Graybeard

9mm- Hornady 115gr Critical Defense

.45- Speer 230gr Gold Dots for short barrels, carried in a Kimber Ultra CDPII.

10mm- varies from urban to woods carry. Urban version is a 180gr XTP loaded to Underwood specs. Woods version is the same 180gr XTPs alternating every other round with 180gr RMR FMJ @ around 1320fps. These are mine, not factory.

.357 magnum- Barnes 125gr Tac-X-PD. In a 3" K6S. Lots of muzzle blast and recoil from these, but their expansion and penetration is excellent.

9mm - HST 124 +p on compact/mid size, HST 147+p on full size

45 ACP - HST 230+p

10mm - Underwood 180 Gold Dot

I am gonna augment this with the logic behind my selections.

First, I check out luckygunner.com's ballistics tests.  And then I pull up gunbot.net.  I compare price/round with ballistic performance and make a call from that data.  I don't mind a bit of penetration past the 18" FBI spec as long as I see good expansion.  The 9mm Remington load I picked does 18.5 average, but with one outlier pulling it up above 18".  The other four shots were just below 18", and the round expanded by nearly 100% (.66").

That is it.  The stuff on my list performed in a standardized gel test and was cheap on the day I ordered.

Remington 185 grain Golden Saber and Speer 230 Gold Dots in 45ACP
Speer Gold Dot 165, 180 and 200 grain and Hornady 180 and 200 grain XTP's in the 10mm
While I don't carry a 9mm I do like the 95 grain XTP & Gold Dot in the 380.  I do load many bullets for 9mm, 357 Sig and 9x25 Dillon but rarely carry those except woods carry or range play.
The "10mm" I'm Packin', Has The Bullets Wackin', Smakin' & The Slide is Rackin' & Jackin'!

It's interesting that no one has mentioned Winchester Ranger T series in 124 + P / 9mm, or  Ranger T in 230 + P / .45 auto. At one point not long ago, I picked up a quantity of both, yet my carry weapons almost always have HST's or Gold Dots, Lol, that was a big waste of money...any thoughts on the Ranger T series in either caliber would be great
Thanks

I only conceal carry 9mm firearms and they are all loaded with 124 grain Federal HST. I have confidence in them after personally using them against a coyote at 20 yards and witnessing the wound and speed of death. While carrying in the woods I carry a 10mm loaded with Underwood 200 grain XTP ammunition. I live in Illinois so larger/tougher predators are not my concern.

Plus the Underwood 200gr XTP would serve you well for two legged predators in the woods : )

From what I have read / watched, it sounds like Winchester's PDX1 may perform slightly better than the Ranger T  series, but have not done any actual testing

9mm - Federal HST 124gr in my G19 daily carry
10mm G20 I carry 180 XTP reloads when hunting/hiking
45ACP-Winchester Ranger T 230gr+P or Hornady 230+P XTP in my G21 when hunting/hiking.
I've used all these loads on coyotes and I'm very happy with the performance.

Where are you finding the 45ACP Winchester Ranger T 230gr+P?  Seems to be out of stock everywhere I look.
