With 10mm mild to wild, any and all would be a great choice!

...and I think I still owe you a chrono report for 3 Longshot loads you sent me about 5 years ago???  What made me think of it is the new MagnetoSpeed chrono sitting on the desk in my office.  I may have you confused with someone else--but I don't think so. If I'm right, we discussed this over on 10Ring ages ago, and the loads, I think, were Gold Dots and a monster charge of Longshot you wanted me to chrono thru the MechTech.  Am I orbiting Neptune or do I have it right?

The_Shadow

Yes it was me, I used to hang out in the 10Ring a lot in the past...and we communicated via the PM's often.  That was 2014, see date at the bottom...

I"d be happy to chrono those loads in my MechTech if you'd like. I have a few loads backing up in the system and really need to get out to the range in the next couple of weeks. I'd be happy to reimburse for both the ammo and postage--not a problem. I'm very curious about 200 gr performance as well.

I'm hoping 180gr XTPs come back on the market soon..I see there's a glut of .45 185gr out there--like someone opened a flood gate or something.

Hope all is well.

Are you referring to the Speer Gold Dot loadings we were talking about?

I think I still have a few loose 200gr Gold Dots if you want to load them yourself. The load I settled on was 9.2 grains of LongShot under them. The 9.4 gr loadings were making 1265-1280 fps from 4.75 and 5" barrels and showing some stress fired from my S&W1006 as tested in used brass.

Please get back with me and provide an address to mail them to you, if you want them.

Oh that's excellent!!  Due to mail synchronization and password reset problems, I haven't been able to get into that site.

Okay...so I think I know where those loads are, I found the feed ramp thing for the MechTech, I have the chrono and have used it once...so no excuses.  That's only 5 years ago...that's not too bad. :)

Some have had issues this was another PM

Ammo was received yesterday, Wade. Not sure how soon I'll be able to get out to the range, but it will certainly be ASAP. Thanks--I'll send the chrono data with the MechTech carbine as soon as I get it.
I was reading a guy's post on the 10mmfirearns site where he is experiencing some case separations, using his MagTech with his handloads. http://10mm-firearms.com/reloading-10mm-ammo/mech-tech-10mm-carbine-reloading-results/msg21988/#new

Have you ever experienced any?

Those rounds I sent you are on the upper end of performance, I hope you don't see any issues in you MagTech with them.
Be safe!

Apparently "ASAP" doesn't mean 'soon' when I use it.

Actually, the excuse is that there was only one place I could go to set up the chronograph, and that's a public range about an hour away.  My last experience there wasn't too comfortable and I really just didn't want to go back.  The club I belong to wasn't too keen on me setting up the chronograph, so that never happened.  So now I have the MagnetoSpeed thing and it actually seems to work quite nicely, and of course it's *very* well-suited to the club range.  Now, I just have to see if I can find the loads you sent--I put them in a 'special place' where they wouldn't get lost--and apparently that place was very special indeed.  Coupled with the fact we moved about 18 months ago--the odds aren't looking good.

Maybe in another 5 years they'll drop on the floor as I'm organizing the socks in my dresser or something.

It's no big deal, those were the older Gold Dots that RMR had as pulled from the 40 S&W contract ammo...I was interested in what they would achieve from the longer carbine barrels...
As mentioned as I too was following how others were testing their MechTech carbines it seemed some experienced case failure...The chamber was not conducive for the higher end loadings with a fair amount of the casing being unsupported...
I am in need of some range time myself, but we went from temps of 90* to 25* this morning like our weather saw a state trooper.   ::)
Good luck finding them again...

Bongo Boy,

Please tell about the cast HP bullet in the pic. Is that from GT Bullets, or do you cast yourself? How are you loading it and how does it shoot?  Thanks.
