Im seriously considering a Sig P220-10mm in spite of the price(OUCH!). So,Im asking for opinions on the gun. I cant ask if its worth it since thats more of a personal thing.  So what are your opinions of the P220?

Out of my stable of (8)10's  it is my favorite.  Also imho the best built.

I think some of the Witness elite guns that are similar in price probably stand up very well quality and shoot-ability wise against the P220. They probably boil down to personal preference.  Also, you lose the decocker, but can gain DA/SA + cocked and locked.

But, hard to get a good head to head eval given that finding a Witness Elite in person without buying it is a challenge.  Even finding an actual 10mm P220 can be a challenge.

As far as just an opinion about the P220.  Solid gun. The "Legion" is not worth it. I do feel like it is a lot of weight to carry around to only get a single stack of rounds.

I don't have a Witness in my collection but am always on the lookout. I would really like to handle one first but like you said they are hard to find.

I have 2 P220 10mms. One is SA/DA and the other is DAO.

They are both excellent shooters. I got the SA/DA one when they were first released. The first range trip was great.

Then I found out about the SAO and had to get one. The SAO is more accurate, but both are great shooters.

I have several P220s in 45acp and I like the platform.
I also have an EAA witness steel frame 10mm, I still like the P220 better.

I just bought a 220 Elite hunter. I really like it great trigger and accurate. I was shooting it out 50 yards from the bench with a rest and had 4" groups with open sights the groups were really good. I like it allot as compared to my Glock MOS 40 well that gun is ina different category. In comparison the my 1911 Colt Delta the 220 is better in many ways in my opinion. I wouldn't get rid of the 1911 because I a, fan but if I had to choose the 1911 would be gone. Compared to the model 20 Glock the 220 wins hands down ....... except in capacity. The gun is every bit as curate as my 6" Springfield but the R1 Remington 1911 is on par with the 220. I really like the kryptic  Camo pattern . The 220 compared to the Springfield XDM the 220 Elite wins again except for capacity. Hope this helps.

I have 2 also. Awesome gun. Have a SAO stainless and a two tone SA DA.

Other than capacity and it's heavy, they shoot better than me.

The higher end Witness line is superior, imo. The Stock, Stock 2 especially. I have both the Sig and Witness Stock 2. Stock 2 has double the mag capacity, is slightly more accurate, smoother action, and as with all witness pistols, the most comfortable grip of any handguns I've ever shot. Price is similar for both. I bought mine off GunBroker. The sig is nice, but 8 round mag really ruins the experience for me.

I picked up a Stock III from my FFL last night, in 9mm.  Same frame as the 10mm Stock III though.

Very, very impressed with the overall fit, finish, balance, etc of the gun.   I would rate if ahead of the Sig P220 10mm's I have handled.

For those wondering why 9mm instead of 10mm, the gun is a gift for my son-in-law as a graduating from his master program present.  He prefers 9mm.

Kinda what I wa suspecting. Ive never seen any EEAs at asll. I have an old 229 LE trade in and whewn I picked it up I had to have it. But It was 1/2 the price of the 220. Its a 40 and has never failed and when you point it at something there will be a hole in it. Before age and wear and teat it would handily put the whole magazine into 1- 1 1/2" at 30 yds. My G20 seems very erratic with a couple touching and a couple here or there. Thats with either a LW or KKM barrel. Stock is worse. Borrowed my son's P220 45 ~ 4" barrel and it stays consistantly smaller than the G20. I

I did push the button on the candy vending machine and I should have it home in a week or so.  @#$%&^$#@ gumint. Taxed 3 times before my hands get on it. FFL tansfer, sales tax and MSP checking fee.

Im wonderin' now how the SAO works is it like a 1911 or---or.....?  I got the SS version. Just like SS, but maybe Ill be able to find a black finished usd one.

Thank you for the replies, Ill have to blame you all for pushing me over the edge :).

SAO is indeed like a 1911.  Thumb safety in the expected location, safe for condition 1 carry.

My prediction...You will love it.

I bought the Sig P220 Elite Nitron model SAO with front night sight. I had the stainless DA/SA model before and it was great gun but I mainly have mine for hunting applications and a shiny finish will spook game.
Really like the pistol and it's very accurate out to 25 yards that I have shot it. Built like a tank and imo superior to the 1911 platform. I also bought a Springfield XDM 5.2 and it's very accurate as well and I may be a bit more accurate with it than the P220 but the P220 is going no where.
I've had the glock 20 with factory and kkm 6" barrel and it's a nice platform but I shoot the P220 and XDM much better and don't have to buy any aftermarket barrels for them.

Well, Ive got the process started and now have to wait til the LGS?FFL gets the shipment which probably wont be until next week due to the need for no delay or stay over shipping(its a shame we cant trust so many people) then after I complete the 4473(?) I get to wait 7 more days in our peoples republic even though Ive undergone extensive background and other checks.  I am felling sorta like a kid at Christmas. Its like Ive always said though, there aint no future in growing up. :D

I love my Hunter Elite it is accurate with open sights soaks up recoil well and is built like a tank. Looking forward to the range report.

I have the 220-10mm in reverse two tone/ DA-SA... and love it.

Yes the price is high but it is an excellent gun. About 2k rounds thru it without a flaw.

On the other side it is a bit heavy compared to a G20.
Also it isn't my carry gun ... my carry G20 is a tool and if it gets beat up , I don't really care.
