I went to the range a couple of days ago and was shooting my K6S and 9mm Carbine. A couple of booths down I hear a some pretty loud blasts and eventually walk over to take a look. The gentleman is shooting a 2" Rhino with 158gr Magtechs.

After a brief chat he asks if I'd like to shoot it as it's not shooting at the point of aim for him. It didn't for me either. At 25' it was about 5" high. The DA trigger was not that great. Rear sights were terrible. The felt recoil was amazing. If the sights and trigger were improved, these things would be spectacular.

Has anyone else tried one and is there any way to improve the trigger?

Ramjet

I have have a couple of these the trigger greatly improves with shooting the gun the sights are subjective but the utility of this makes them suitable for self defense. Recoil ? This thing shines it is fantastic and staying on target with multiple hits is easy. Even the heaviest 357 loads can be shot with ease. One other important thing keep your booger picker away from the cylinder gap because the barrel is lower people forget this but only do it once  :o  If they made this in 10mm and a 6,8 barrel I would buy them in a heart beat. The gun is easy to conceal with a high rise forward can't holster. Weird looking yes expensive yes worth the cash yes.

Graybeard

I've been shooting for about 43yrs and there isn't much that really makes me go "WOW" anymore. This one did. Recoil management was truly amazing. Good to hear the trigger smooths out. The one I was fortunate enough to shoot was pretty new.

Well, I've been shootin' over 60 years and not many Gun make me say "You gotta be $#!+!n' me !" as much as this "thing" does
Except for maybe the the Mateba 6 Unica Semi Auto Revolver !
Nothing like a "movie gun" making it to the general public
Watched a video with Jerry Miculek shooting the Rhino and if he hates the Grip Angle, says it worse then a Glock, there's no way I'd ever care for it
PLUS. he burnt his Support Hand Thumb while shooting the damn thing .... NO THANK YOU !
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

So have you actually fired one?

Sorry GB, NO
And as I stated above; "no thank you"
Same as; I have never shot an AR style Rifle
And I really don't care to anytime soon
I'm not trying to take anything away from anyone else that may care to shoot/own one though
It's just my opinion, coming from my observations

Ramjet

Well to not have ever shot one and have such a strong opinion seems presumptuous. Movie Gun well that's a ridiculous statement it has some excellent engineering and the concept is well thought out and executed.  Jerry burned his hand because he did NOT study the operation of the gun and adjust his grip to accommodate the low line of the barrel and cylinder gap. shame on him. So it's ok you do not want to buy one but to be so critical without even ever handling one is total closed minded stubbornness. If you had said; " well it just does not appeal to me based on these things" I could accept that but your "Dramatics" take away from your credibility.

Graybeard

Part of the WOW I experienced firing this gun was the fact that I had pretty much written them off as a gimmick, too. They just look weird and I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that this design would make that much difference in recoil with .357 magnum loads. All I can tell you is it really does. If you ever get the opportunity to fire one of these, I am certain you will be just as shocked as I was.

While I respect Jerry Miculek, Ramjet is right. He should have known better than to place his thumb over the cylinder gap. That is on him and whoever sent him the gun to test. I haven't seen the video.

You've never shot an AR :o Come on DenStinett! Live a little! I've always had an affinity for lever guns, but I still own a few ARs. They're just too much fun. If you live anywhere close to me, I'd invite you to shoot my 10mm AR, today.

Kenk

Absolutely too much fun, there's not may things more exhilarating than rapping off 8 or 10 rd's as fast as you can from an AR 10 / .308 : )

Hey GB
Here's that video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbDUWACwRqk
Funny thing is, he even said during his intro, at approx 1:15 "....it will burn you pretty quick", then while shooting it, at approx 8:30, he does it !

Here's one with Hickok45 too:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc2wDyMbh0o

The closest thing to an AR I've ever shot are my M1a and the Mini-14 in their ArchAngel Stocks
Or maybe a bit closer, my MechTech MG20-A4

I know they're just similarly "shaped" not their operating system
Although, a 10mm AR would be interesting !

Nice guns! Okay then, ;) you're not missing out on that much never having fired an AR. But a gas operated 10mm AR is a fairly rare thing. PM me it you're ever in S.E. Michigan and I'll let you give it a try.

Interesting in the Hickock45/Rhino video that his impression of the recoil impulse was a bit different than mine. The lack of muzzle flip made it feel like nothing to me. It really illustrates how different people are.

Kenk

Like Hickok45 stared, you'd think this weapon would be inexpensive due to its lack of artistic value, Lol, but it's not. If this gun is as good as some of its reviews, I would enjoy testing one out
Thanks

Ken

Graybeard

I would highly recommend it Ken. The guy that let me shoot his was about 5'8" and couldn't have been more than 140-145lbs. His biceps were barely bigger than my wrists. I'm guessing he was in his mid 60s. 158gr .357s were barely moving him, out of a 2"gun! He bought it for his wife.

I'm not going to run out and buy one, but as a design aspect I was impressed with the results. The Rhino had less recoil, for me, than a Coonan .357 I got to shoot a couple of years ago.

Kenk

Thanks Graybeard, the "buy it for the wife" idea would work great,  she'll say, you should just keep it, I'll stick with the 9's 😂😂😂
