This may be a really dumb question, but hear goes. I know you can convert a G20 to 9x25 Dillon with a simple barrel swap. Is this possible with the RIA Ultra FS / HC?, and if so, who would be a good barrel manufacture, and will I need to swap out any other components
Thanks

I don't see why not. They are pricey but I would contact Bar-Sto.

Thanks Mike, as for any other parts to swap out, any thoughts?

I'll be upgrading the trigger on mine. It's not terrible but could be improved.

I'm going to have them build me a threaded barrel (10mm) for mine. It will probably replace/supplement the Glock 20 long slide in the other thread.

Thanks Mike, would also be interested in your trigger choice once you complete the upgrade

I'll keep you posted. I put a Wilson trigger and a Harrison true radius sear along with a cylinder and slide leaf spring in my last 1911 and it was a great combination.

I just received a reply from Bar-Sto regarding a 9x25 Dillon barrel for my RIA Ultra HC 10mm.

Hello,

We offer the 9x25 but for that one you may have some feeding issues. The magazines can be finicky with that round. If you understand that if it doesn't work reliably it is not our fault and you cannot return it then we can sell you one. Let us know if that is OK. Lengths up to 7" and price range between 225.00 up to 400.00 depending on length and such.

Thank you,

Irv Stone III

With a price range such this, I'm not sure I'm willing to risk it, Thoughts...

Caliber conversions are always a crap-shoot on reliability any way you slice it.  All the more so with a RIA, which has a black eye in the custom/aftermarket world due to tolerance issues of the past.

Assuming this is a range gun endeavor, I would not let this deter me at all.  If I were looking for a barrel for a hunting, carry or competition gun I would re-think 9X25 as a good option.

Afternoon, I'm pretty sure I will be ordering a 9x25 Dillon barrel from Bar-Sto for my RIA Ultra, but am unsure of the length at this point. As for RIA's standard recoil spring, will this work with the 9x25 Dillon, or would a different weight spring function better?
Thanks

The 1911 is a different animal as it pertains to recoil setups!  I will also mention that if you use a compensator you will likely use a spring with less poundage than if it is not comped!
The impulse for the 9x25 is a little different than the 10mm as well...
Kenk, good luck with your choice and understand that you my require fitting of the barrel to the slide and then the frame.  Then after that the barrel may require a final chamber reaming after the fitting...

Not sure if you are sending you slide to Bar-Sto for the fitting and reaming this is why I mentioned the above... ::)

Hey Shadow,
Will I know if the barrel does or does not require refitting to the slide and then to the frame / final chamber reaming because a rd will not chamber correctly? If everything chambers correctly, is it "relatively safe to say" that I can squeeze off that first rd to check proper ejection
Thanks man!

My Bar-Sto barrel I got from Mike McNett for my S&W1006 required fitting and after that it required a final reaming as it was short reamed for the purpose of getting it reamed to have proper head spacing.  The head spacing is crucial to the 9x25 cartridge and its casing
