I'm interested in XDm 10mm brass distance versus other MFG's

Sig V-crown 180gr fmj, I think it's advertised at 1250fps, went 30-40 ft to the 4:00 position. That's out of a stock xdm 5.25. I've gotta 22lb spring coming to see if that helps.

Would love to know if a heavier spring helps. Which one did you order? I am sure the stock spring is to allow for weak 10mm factory ammo to function.

This is getting to be a concern for me with my Kimber Target II LS. My Kimber running full house 180 gr loads will hurl my spent casings about 25'+ at about 4 oclock. I'm just amazed at how far i'm forced to chase my brass. 10mm brass is very pricey even once fired, so NO WAY am I leaving any brass un-policed at my range ! Probably not going to shoot my Kimber much once the snow sets it, same deal not digging through snow to shag brass.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but that is what I expected at this point, another Browning design (though I did read lately that the rotating barrel was also a Browning design and that doesn't surprise me, genius that he was with actions).

I'd chime in about how far my RIA 5" throws brass, but I dropped in to find what the OP was trying to find out-how far the XD's ejection pattern is...
To the two posters that shared their experiences with the XD: Thanks!

As the subject is 'I'm interested in XDm 10mm brass distance versus other MFG's' I think it would be entirely appropriate for you to state your RIA 5" numbers, wouldn't it?

I have a G20 and a G29, a Sig 220, a RIA 5", a Delta Elite and the Grand Power. These guns are all a hoot to shoot and I will likely buy others, but the Grand Power is the only one that is not a Browning design (or is it?) but rather a rotating barrel and that is the point I'm trying to make.

Has anybody tried filing the ejector down some? I've been thinking of doing that on my Kimber Stainless Target II. Even with a 23 lb recoil spring it throws them 25ft to the 5oclock. Thinking if one takes their time you could get reliable ejection 5-6 feet out. I wouldn't do it if I carried this for specifically for SD, but for shooting and hunting it seems to make sense. I would also think it would work with the Tangfolio or any other Pistols with similar designs.

Filing the ejector is the only remedy I am aware of that consistently works.  Most shy away from it as it can result in malfunctions in lower impulse ammo.

Thank You SQ, think I am going to do that. I will start from reverse though, I will put in a 18lb spring and use my indoor winter target loads(R rules, lead only and <1000fps), file until I get a 3-4ft ejection. Then when I move to full house loads I will just go back to the 23lb spring and the full house loads shouldn't go into orbit anyway.

This research project will be added to my long list of solid reasons I need another 10mm pistol, in addition to the important community support it will provide.

My 29 puts them in the next county. I shot 20 rounds the last time and only recovered 4 pieces
