What is your opinion of the Glock Model 40. Saw one at Cabela's and now I'm interested.

I like mine just fine.

Over 10k rounds with stock barrel. Getting more than 10 reloads on the brass at book max.

Everyone at the range that tries it likes it and is amazed how well it handles. I know two people that immediately bought one after trying mine.

I switched from a G20 to a G40 when they were released. I prefer the 6 inch barrel for the sight radius and slight increase in muzzle velocity.

It's a Glock so it has been reliable and is pretty easy to shoot. I don't leave many guns stock as they come from the factory so I made the following mods to mine:

Installed Dawson Precision adjustable rear and fiber optic front sight
Replaced trigger with Zevtech Fulcrum
Replaced barrel with a 6 inch KKM I previously used in my G20
And to increase the weight of the pistol, I added a stainless steel Glock Store RSA and Glock Store "Thug Plug". (I won't buy another stainless RSA as it isn't worth the cost)   

If you shoot handloads, as always, you'll need to find the correct bullet seating depth with the bullet you are using to allow proper feeding. Standard plated and jacketed stuff feeds fine with a COL of 1.250 but the Montana Bullet Works 200 grain WFNPB "boolits" are so wide at the meplat they need to be seated deeper to 1.240 to function reliably in my pistol. No problem as SAAMI spec for 10mm COAL is 1.240-1.260 and you should work up a safe load with the pistol's preferred seating depth anyway. 

It's not my favorite 10mm pistol but it's not one I'll be getting rid of anytime soon. It's a very reliable, utilitarian tool.
