Had a little bit of aa#9 left over from loading 357mag and it bugs me to have only an inch or 2 left in the bottom of the can so i worked up some loads for my new xdm 10mm this weekend. Started a half grain over min and worked up a few tenths at a time tell max (or a little over). Was using 155 grain xtp and 180 grain xtp as fodder. Stopped at 16 grains of aa#9 with the 155 grain xtp and at 13.7 gr with the 180 grain xtp. No pressure signs with either. Accuracy was very good with the 180 grain bullets over 13.7gr the 155 grain bullets over 16 grains aa#9 was not tested very well for accuracy but they rolled pop bottles at 25 yard well enough. Probably wont buy any more 155 gr bullet after i burn these up. Nothing wrong with them but i see no advantage to using them over 180 grain. Next test will be 180 grain loads with long shot. Have no chronograph so i can only guess at speeds.

13.7 grains of #9 should make about 1180-1190 fps in the shorter XD, and about 15-20 fps more in the longer version.

Let's just say that there's room for improvement on the 180's. I'm running 14.6 in #9 on 180's. 12.5 in #7 on 180's. Accuracy is King. I'm around 1400 fps with the #9 and no idea what #7 is doing except stacking bullets.

13.2-13.4 of AA9 yields my tightest groups with the Berry's 180 rnfp. Shoots about  3" eight shot groups consistiently at 50' off a sturdy rest. Getting about 1220 fps from my Kimber 6" Target II.
