Can I do some wishful thinking out loud?

Recently I purchased a Sig P365. I immediately went from the store to the range and put 370 rounds through it with no hint of a hiccup. I have never felt as confident and capable with my accuracy with any other pistol.

The more I handle and dry-fire it, the more I'm impressed with the size and shape of the grip. 10 rounds of 9mm wrapped in a grip that feels perfect in my hands. The magazine was designed with no wasted space around the rounds, and the grip was designed with no wasted space around the magazine.

It got me thinking... Why not design a pistol around the 10mm the same way?

I love my G20, but even the Gen 4 grip is bulky and can get uncomfortable during long range sessions.

Keep it compact and easy to carry and conceal. Make it 10 rounds, just like the 365, and just scale up the grip, slide, barrel, etc. to the 10mm as efficiently as possible. Seems like a no-brainer.

Get on it, Sig!

Edit: I had a thought... I wonder how narrow the grip can be made for a 10mm, front to back, using the 365 as a model.

Ruger LCP II: 44mm at the longest part (for comparison to a small .380 grip - it's amazing they got the 365 so short in this dimension)
Sig P365: 45mm at the longest part
G20 Gen 4: 55mm at the longest part (not counting the finger grooves)

9mm length (nominal COAL): 28.5mm
10mm length (nominal COAL): 32mm

So using the 365 as a model, and scaling up proportionally...

45 - 28.5 = 16.5 (grip length beyond the round) .... 16.5 / 28.5 = .579 (proportion of the grip length relative to the round)
.579 * 32 = 18.528 (grip length beyond the round) .... 32 + 18.528 = 50.528 (total front to back grip length proportional to the 365)

I think my maths are right... Taking 4.5 mm off the front to back dimension of the G20 grip would be huge.

My brother is one that goes thru guns like a drunk woman with shoes- there's a lot going thru the closet. He bought into a 10mm Witness that was labelled as a compact. He and I both have shot the hand cannons at silhouette competitions for decades. Probably the stoutest is the 350 Remington Mag on a Contender frame with a 14" barrel. So recoil is not  a big deal to us. But the Witness he bought was a handful and I would really say that's an understatement. The gun has far too many sharp edges that bites the heck out of you with every shot. While just holding the gun, the frame is thick at the mag well so it fits our reasonably large hands. It's real comfy until the gun goes off. The noise, the muzzle flash, the recoil, is far more than either of us wanted to have to endure. He didn't have it long and it was gone. Can't say I was unhappy knowing I won't get to shoot it anymore. For me, a 1911 fits me fine. My preference is to a long slide though. At 6'4" I don't have issues carrying it in a shoulder holster and don't feel handicapped having such a large pistol. But as we all know, one does not fit all when it comes to pistols. Some love their Glocks. I've held better feeling in the hand, bricks. Glock does not fit my hand at all. For me it's the most clumsy designed gun in the world. But others don't have any issues with them at all. So what makes sense and feels good to you may not fit others. I suppose that's why there are so many different ones. But you too can be like brother, buy them all and then sort them out. Seems to work for him.

Mauser m2 with a 10mm reamed barrel and the plastic spacer removed from the mag fit your request?

That's definitely interesting Bruno747.

As a factory 10mm with the 365's ergonomics and relative weight, yeah I'd be on that like a cat on catnip.

@Trapper6L Yeah, I feel you. I'm 5'9" 165 with a lean-ish build, so something like a G20 is impossible for me to conceal with any confidence it won't print. The G20 was my 10mm choice for reasons other than carrying it - namely an infatuation with the cartridge and compatibility with my MechTech carbine, which is my favorite firearm. I do use the G20 for home defense.

Hoping that Springfield jumps further in with an xdm compact.

I am hoping Springfield Armory does a XDs in 10mm, or a Glock 36 sized 10mm.
