Any thoughts on a min / max with Blue Dot under rainier's 135gr FP? 155gr is as low as it goes on Alliant's load data page
Thanks

Well the Rainer bullet may not do well if pushed to higher velocities...

You could try the Nosler Blue Dot Data https://load-data.nosler.com/load-data/10mm-auto/

Would Longshot or Power Pistol be better suited for the 135?

All of them will work but the Rainer bullet being a plated bullet, accuracy might suffer if driven over 1200 fps, only testing will show how they perform in your pistols.  Many people use these in completion but I don't thing they are driving these at higher velocities...

QuoteQ6. Do you offer loading data for Rainier bullets?

A. Loads for copper jacketed bullets can be used for Rainier copper plated bullets. We recommend a starting powder charge directly between the listed minimum and maximum load.

Mine is a Long Slide Remington R1 so expect velocity differences although the velocities I'm going to post are out of reloading manuals and a 4" barrel.
I've played with various powders, Unique, CFE Pistol, AA5, etc but frankly I really haven't devoted much time to working with the 135gr bullets to really get a decent load. Once it turns hot here, you don't want to be sitting in the sun.....unless yer stupid. I didn't have much cool time when I bought the R1. I've loaded the following:
These will be the Rainier 135 HP, not FP but it should be close enough.
8.0 grs Unique 1.249 OAL no group
9.0 grs CFE  1.249 OAL no group
11.2 grs HS6 1.249 OAL no group
11.5 grs Blue Dot 1.255 OAL 4" group@ 25 yds
10.6 grs Power Pistol 1.250 OAL no group
10.2 grs CFE 1.250 OAL no group.

FWIW
9.5grs CFE 115gr Lehigh Xtreme Defense 1.250 OAL 1.25" group 1500'ps- R1 10mm.

My Baby Eagle 40SW shoots these Rainier 135 HP like a rifle. Unbelievably accurate using 7.2 grs AA5@ 1025'ps.

The no group loads. Seems like the closer I got to 1200'ps the better the groups shot. None were under 8" at 25 yds from bags. Probably a bulky powder that burns quick might be just the ticket for this round.

So the Nosler 135 would be a better choice then the Rainer's if I wanted to push them faster, correct?
Thanks

Nosler and Sierra 135 grain bullets are a true Jacketed cup and core HP.  That is why the actually hold up better while loading, and firing at the upper velocities.  Remember that the 135's are also a shorter bullet than most 155's and heavier with the longer sides to stabilize better in the rifling.  The 135 grain is about as light as you can go and still have enough straight sides to stabilize itself fairly well for reasonable accuracy.  The solid copper bullets (although lighter and expensive) tend to be longer to make their weight and provides good stabilization but being longer take up powder space.  The trade off is not that bad compared with performance with Brands like Barnes TAC-XP 125 / 140 / 155 in 10mm / 0.400".
