It's interesting that EAGLE IMPORTS won't admit there was a magazine drop issue. Seems like a good response would have been, yes, this was a problem in early versions, but has now been corrected
Grand Power has admitted on their Facebook page that there was an issue but it had been solved.

All I could find on Facebook was this quote -

QuoteGrand Power USA - Eagle Imports Jesse Adkins what bugs? the magazine catch on the first 50 that came into the USA? Yes, that has been fixed and we only had to send parts out to fix about 20 of them.

Pretty sure mine came in the second batch, bought nearly a year after they first popped up on Gunbroker. Not totally surprised the issue doesn't appear widespread considering the selection of 10mm ammo out there available to non-reloaders.  Most guys aren't going to shoot a lot of high power factor stuff when it runs them $2 a round.  Mine occasionally knocked the mag loose with SIG FMJ. At first I thought it was me hitting the mag release button.  It wasn't till I moved up to 200 gr loads that it started throwing the the mag to the ground.

Regardless, I for one am actually excited to get this fix in.  The gun does shoot nice when you can keep the mag in it. Recoil doesn't feel as sharp as my 1911's despite the P40 being lighter.

I do not have a Grand Power in 10mm. But I contacted them directly a few months back and they replied that the problem had been fixed but if I was to get one and had that issue there policy was to send the gun owner the replacement part that was needed as well as the simple instructions on how to change it.
Somebody told me that when something was wrong with my TNC Aero 10mm carbine trigger . (It wasn't resetting properly) I specifically asked him do you have to be like an engineer to replace all the parts? (Which they DID send me free) He said no, no, and gave me a link to a video which showed me how to do it. I took one look at that video, and said "Say what"? No WAY! I needed tools I didn't have and techniques I had no idea how to do. My gunsmith got the job! (And, those parts DID fix the problem thank goodness)
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

I hate plastic guns. I hate de-cocker pistols. I hate ambi controls............I LOVE THIS GUN! I didn't want to buy this gun after all the nonsense that went on before the thing was even on the market. I was so ticked that there was no way I was going to get one. I'm sorry but 10mms are kinda' like potato chips. It's not a gun I would have even considered if it weren't a 10 but I got it and I'm glad I did.

I like the way the de-cocker works. I carry it condition 1. I can also put the lever down and easily practice double action only.
The controls are so thin and unobtrusive that the ambi is actually now a good thing in my mind. That crazy angular looking grip on the plastic gun actually fits the hand beautifully.

I've been shooting Underwood practice ammo and 180 and 200 grain hollow points. Runs like a champ. I just spent around 80 bucks for an IWB holster (unheard of amount for me!) Every time I leave the house with pants and a belt, it's on me.

Only criticism I have is the field strip and that's a breeze once I got the hang of it.
If you like 10mm you will like this gun.

So I got around to stripping my GP 40 today. As near as I can tell it must be a stronger spring as I can not see any other difference. Unfortunately I did not take a before picture without an empty magazine in the gun, if anyone has one that has not had the gun fixed for the mag drop please post a picture. Here are before and after pictures with a magazine body in the gun.

I could shrink the pictures but I thought you might want the detail.

I just picked up a P40 and have to say it is a nice 10mm option. I have carried a Glock for many yrs BUT.. I may change my mind.. I only have 2 mags fired but I had 0 issues with DT 200gr HC. So far the only bad thing I can say about it is the take down and reassembled procedure, what a pain in the ass.

Lol, it is a pain in the ass until you get used to it. I can't tell you how many times I tried to put the slide back on the same as a Glock/Smith/Colt and so on. Now it is no issue, just had to retrain my brain and hands.

I have come up with another minus for the Grand Power. Extra mags are like hen's teeth. I'm on notification lists from a bunch of mag sellers and haven't had any luck so far. I need more mags!
