So I got out to the desert with my new RIA Ultra FS today.
$565 shipped from G4G :D

I brought 200 S&B 180 FMJ to shake it out (and make me some brass) and also ran 25 S&B 180jhp to proof for carry.
I had the one factory 8rd mag and 5 Chip McCormick Shooting Star 8rd 45ACP mags.

I've had 45, 9, and 40 1911's from Springfield, Kimber, Para, and my Colt/Remington Rand 1942 rearmored USGI WWII pistol.

All I can say is I'm really happy with my purchase and choice in my first 10mm platform!!
I had four FTRB's out of 225 rounds fired. This is as good as any new 1911 I've owned-REALLY GOOD considering I was shooting more using the 45ACP 8rd CMC mags loaded with 9rds of 10mm!

I had to lower the rear sight to 2 clicks from bottomed out as gun was shooting about 10" high at 20yds, but once I got it dialed in 6" AR500 squares were hit more often than not. I did not fire on paper from support for accuracy (I'm a precision rifle guy, not so much precision pistol).
The S&B averaged 1110fps from a chrono at 10'. Only lost 10pcs of brass ;D

I got the 10mm as I hunt in AZ, and got a 5.5" 44mag for a sidearm for Black Bear/cougar defense. I'm no revo guy, and realized I can run a 1911 with confidence, and I'm glad I did. I can get 19rds into a 12" steel at 20 yds (full gun and reload) faster than I can get 4 good shots off with the Redhawk.

Just thought I'd share since I'm new here, and wanted to pitch in. I'll be around for reloading tips when I start collecting component-I'll be looking to get 180/200 XTPs and 200WFN's to 600ft/lb levels with AA#9 and maybe BlueDot, Longshot or Power Pistol.
Thanks for all I've learned already lurking the past few weeks.

I'll try to post pic of my RIA and my trusty WWII worked over 45 workhorse.

Cool, welcome to the board. The RIA is a fun 10mm to shoot, mine has been great.

Rock Island Armory sure makes a lot of 1911 for the dollar, doesn't it?

Heck yeah they do, and from the research I've done, and what I've seen on my new one-they have their 10's pretty well dialed in. 25# mainspring and 20# recoil spring-I May get a square bottom FPS as I plan on running real loads, but other than that and a Fusion mainspring housing with a lanyard pin I may be done with it other than feeding it!

Gratuitous but crappy small pic of the Rock and my worked over GI 45.
As you can see, the Rock is already set up the way I like my 1911's from the get go!

Welcome from SW OH. I had one of those and swapped it off for something that I can't remember, wish now that Had it back. Received a Rock FS in 9/22TCM last week, TCM is a fun round to play with but I'll find another 10mm soon. Like someone said above, lot of gun for the money.
