I picked up a 250 piece bag of range pickup brass from an online company called North East Reloading.  Brass arrived sealed in a plastic bag. It looks to be in good shape and clean.  A few slight beer bellies but no smilies.

My, there a lot of players stamping out 10mm brass!  The lion's share of the brass is A USA (Armscorp?) with FC and SIG in second place. There is Starline, PMC, S&B, PPU, Freedom, X-Treme, one Hornady, one Nugent and a partridge in a pear tree.

I loaded about thirty of these with my RCBS 10mm dies (they pre-date the .40S&W) and found that the PPU have almost no neck tension.  I found the same condition in some Remington nickle brass from their 180gr fmj load.

I plan on using Starline for serious ammo but purchased this for shooting IDPAish matches where you lose your brass.  My ammo I loaded and stored in 2000 is all in Winchester brass and I've depleted that a bit in two matches so I'm trying to plan ahead.

Is there a list of good, bad or ugly 10mm brass around here?

Yes Rick, the PPU brass is known to not hold it's resized dimensions even with the RCBS dies.  BTW mine too are pre 40S&W as well.  In a post I made here I showed that a quick and dirty annealing did allow it to hold its resize.

Yep I saw that in the NE Reloading ad...Ever since PPU and A USA brass started to show up, I quit buying used 10mm brass especially at the prices higher than 1/2 of what I can buy new from Starline.  Even FC you will see some splits on the initial factory loads because the are brittle and they use uber fast powders in most target loads...Freedom and X-Treme are the same if I recall.

I don't reload PPU.

Seems like once you buy Starline, you never go back.  ;D

With Starline @ $22 / 100 locally I decided "what the hey!"  $35/250 delivered was a gamble and I guess tuition in the school of hard knocks.   I am amazed that there were ten different brands.

Then Brownell's had a sale and I picked up 300 Starline delivered for under $50. I need to just surrender and order a thousand direct from Starline.   :D

Order two thousand.  Lasts longer :P

I ordered 2000 a bunch of years back. Between that, commercial ammo and scrounging I am surfing brass. No need to buy more!
