How about these Hornady action pistol bullets for hogs?

Keep an eye on Rocky Mountain Reloading and American Reloading websites.  They have various Federal pulled bullets come through pretty often.

The Hornady 200 grain HAP bullet will work for hogs, just don't expect too much from expansion as it wouldn't be as uniformed. It may even colapse on one side, it could separate the core some.

As with any game animal well placed shots can make all the difference, for Mr. Pig Hog a head shot saves the edible meat from being bloodied.

I shoot HAP bullets out of my RMW 10mm all the time - 11" barrel. Some are over book (don't tell anyone)

1) They are very accurate.
2) They are damned destructive
3) I wish we had pigs to shoot, and I can dream - but my guess is they will be great.

I am torn between the XTP and the HAP.  The sensible side of me says to spend a few extra cents per bullet and get the XTP. The cheap side of me says get the HAP. We shoot them with 22 mag all the time with no problem. Any 10mm will do fine.

How does your RMW run? Is it picky about ammo? Did you have to tweak it to dial it in?

I reload too and will be running over book as well. [emoji44]

I try not to tell anybody what to do but consider the following. My little bother is a paid trapper in South Texas. He gets paid for what we pay to do. Hogs are one of his target animals along with Javalina and coyotes, sometimes cats. When it comes to hogs, they aren't nearly as hard to kill as you might think. He's decked numerous ones in the 350+lb range with a 380 Beretta. That's a 90gr FMJ bullet. Some of the shots were close, some less than 5 feet but the hog dropped like a Peterbilt landed on it. I think you might be over thinking the bullet on a hog. From the thousands of hogs we have killed over the years, penetration wins the battle. Even a lead bullet will out perform for a clean kill over a HP bullet. I wouldn't even consider an XTP for hogs- far too thin skinned with too soft of a core. There have been probably in the millions of hogs killed in the early days with lead bullets and most of those were a soft lead. For most of my hog killing pistols I carry RN plated bullets and have yet to have a hog on me or not kill the animal quickly. Again, not telling you what to do, just expressing our experience with hunting hogs.
