Hey guys I have an opportunity to get a GP40 10mm. For the price I can also get a double stack rock island, an EAA (even though i'm not so sure about them), or a glock 20 or 40(which I can throw different barrels in and have different velocities and calibers) . Is the warranty as great as its put off to be? Does the rotating barrel really make a difference? For the price (at least in pictures) it's not too attractive. If anybody uses one and had issues that were repaired or had no issues id love to hear feedback. I heard chamber support on the bottom isn't there but I've never seen one in person.
Thanks for the input.
Also what would you guys pay for a GP40 10mm?
Have you guys ran underwood through your GP?

Thanks guys,
Pete

I don't have a Grand Power.

I do have a Glock 20, 29 RIA HC, Witness and Witness Match.

I don't have concerns about the Grand Power chamber support.  That flat spot on the bottom is still as thick as the chamber walls on a Model 66 357 magnum, or on my 28-2.  Plenty of steel for support.  And the brass is full supported 360°.  One of the big strengths of the design.

Seems like lots of guys have had teething issues with them.  Not a reason to avoid them, unless this is going to be your "go to" gun.

If I were to rank the 10mm guns I own in the order I trust them, Glock and EAA would tie for first.  The EAA's had to shoot in over the first 200 rounds, but in the 2000 + since then I haven't had a single failure in my hands.  New shooters have a hiccup from time to time, but they have them with my Glocks too.  I attribute it to limp wristing the gun.

That said, I would not purchase a Witness compact, poly or steel, and expect it to run.  I think the guys with the P-carry have reported reliable function though

I wanna love the RIA HC, but so far it has had a fair number of failures.  I have addressed the extractor fit issues since my last outing, so hopefully they are a thing of the past.  RIA has taken care of all the other forum members who have had bobbles.

Right now the only GP40 10mm on Gunbroker is $819/Buy Now.  So, what I would pay is kinda moot since this is the only option.  I probably would pass, but I am planning on buying a couple of Glock Gen5's in a few weeks.  If you want one, then it sounds like $819 is your price of entry.

Tombstone Tactical says they have 10 in stock at $691 each.

I have never purchased from them but many have so they are likely GTG.

I really like my GP40, handles the 10mm round very well. There were some issues but they all appear to be resolved now, though the magazine release is on the heavy side. I have 2 10mm 1911's and they are fun (as are my Glocks and my Sig), but the GP40 is my clear favorite. Handles the brass much better than any other 10mm in my experience.

Thanks guys,
I had no idea the gen5's were coming out in a few weeks i'll have to look them up and see if they did anything different with the G20.
Thanks for the advice on the grand power, if i'm understanding right its (p40) a great gun but more of a luxury purchase for the range compared to a Glock you would carry every day. SQL bullet , are your EAA's stock or modified? They eat full power loads?

It is expensive, but my Sig was more expensive. I carry the P40 whenever I can, otherwise I carry a Remington R-51.

I made two changes to my EAA's.

1.  I put in 22 lb recoil springs from Wolff Springs.  Not sure I would do this again, but these were the first to 10mm handguns I bought and I was anxious to tinker.

2.  I put in +10% mag springs.  When I bought my full-size the only mags available were the "red follower" mags, and the springs in them just weren't up to the job.  During the first 200 rounds I got occasional 3-point feed jams.  I replaced the mag springs and have not had that issue again.  When the Elite Match arrived I had springs waiting for it.  The new "black follower" mags from EAA have addressed this issue with a much stiffer mag spring.

The EAA guns offer some of the best chamber support of any 10mm firearm.  They are built like tanks.  They are still my favorite 10mm guns to shoot.

One is my next 10mm to buy. Which do you recommend?

The Witness I covet is the Elite Stock I:  https://eaacorp.com/index.php/guns/handguns/witness-elite-stock-i-99

This is basically a Witness full-size, but it gets the full Tanfoglio custom shop treatment.  They run about $800 on Gunbroker, but finding one in 10mm requires patience.

If I had to choose between my Elite Match and my standard model, I would probably choose the standard model.  The Elite is a better shooting gun, but it is SAO, has huge safety levers that are easy to "bump" off, has lots of sharp edges that snag on clothes and cut hands, and has a trigger that is really a bit light for a defensive gun.  Give it a melt, a smaller safety and a DA/SA trigger and it would be great.  But at that point you have spent the same money as a Stock I will cost.

The standard model runs like a top.  It has no really sharp edges.  The trigger needs a fluff and buff, but that kinda just happens if you go put 300-400 rounds through it on a Saturday.  And they can be found.

The polymer framed Witness might be great if it makes the advertised weight of 31 oz and actually runs.  31 oz. seems about right for a polymer framed gun, but I know the full size steel is advertised at 33 oz and actually weighs in at closer to 41 oz.  And the Polymer compact would be awesome except lots of reports about them not running well.

Nice, love the Witness Stock I 99, reminds me of a Bren 10. I think I will start looking for one in 10mm. Sweet! Thank you.

Don't forget the Limited Pro EAA pistol. I really love mine! The Stock I might have some subtle changes to the grip and beavertail in the current model being offered. I haven't seen anyone post pictures of one to see.
