Just curious to some of your opinions on rock island's 10mm offerings.  After my not so fun experience with the EAA compact I chose the rock ms(4.25")10mm as its replacement.  The slide is very smooth and tight no play what so ever.  The stock sights are quite nice as well.  The  first 300 rounds at the range went pretty well only had a couple ftf which i chaulked up to break in period.  Quite happy with the accuracy too i might add.  :D Unfortunately the magazine started wanting to come loose while firing so It had to go back to Armscor.  Have any of you encountered this problem?  Other than this I am very much liking this firearm.

I had the same problem with my full-size RIA 10mm.  RIA fixed it and had it back to me in four days (door-to-door).  No problems with it since.

It shoots well, recoils less than I expected, and feels better in my hand than a Glock 20.

Mine hasn't made it to the range yet, but it is well assembled and I am very impressed with the fit quality.

Thanks good to hear.  Their CS seems to be quite good from what I have experienced so far.  Can't wait to get it back and get back to shooting. ;D

On a side note I'd definitely recommend the wilson combat 47nx 9 round magazine for the single stack rock islands.

Got it back yesterday and ran 75 rounds though it just fine.  ;D Has a much more positive "snap" when putting the mags in now.  What kind of grips have some of you guys been running on yours?  I like the stock grips but after about 100 rounds they start "chew" the ole hands up a bit.

I usually run VZ grips on my 1911's.   .45 acp and 10mm.   If they tear your hands up they recommend taking them off the frame and hitting them with some sandpaper to take the sharp edges off.

I've a friend that has Wilson Combat hard rubber grips on his.   He likes them a lot.

I have the 6 inch Pro and I have had no issues with it. I have the Glock model 40 because I wanted a hi capacity 10 with a 6 inch barrel and when the RIA became available I jumped at the chance and I haven't regretted it.

I've had the same gun for about a year and a half...  Dropped the slide on the very first round and it did a FTF...I thought "just great"...and never miss a beat since.

Accuracy is just as good as the Kimber Stainless Target II and PARA Elite Long Slide Hunter...for half the price.

I took the VZ grips off and sold them to a friend. Put a set of smooth gray Micatra grips that I found on eBay. Also put on a arched mainspring housing and just got a smaller ambi safety as the stock one interferes with my trigger finger...

Well worth the money...Bob

I have put another 250 rounds or so through it and I am very pleased with my purchase.  The gun is far more accurate than I am but I'm quite happy with 1.5" groups at 25 feet. My luck on the other hand not so much.  At the end of the day when I was at the range the last clip i had the first ftf since getting it back.  Upon taking it down i found the guide rod had come unscrewed from the buffer plate a good bit. I put the locktite to it and tightened it back up.

Bob, assume any regular arched mainspring housing will fit? I like the arched msh better than flat on my 1911's.

Mine was a preowned gun from Armslist. The feed ramp is polished to a mirror like finish, trigger pull is around 5 lbs. on average but more of a smushy break than a crisp break. The gun is way more accurate than my capabilities though. Just beginning to reload 10mm and looking forward to more range time this week.

I have a commander sized with bull barrel. My reverse plug got chewed up 1st range trip. Scratched up the barrel a bit. Ria sent me a new one and haven't had any issues since.

Since I started using Tripp magazines mine has been flawless. Just wish I  could gey all my brass back!

I love my rock islands, I have had that happen to me with my tac ultra 5" (I don't trust 1911's less than 5" . With me it only happened with mecgar mags and it turned out it was because of the magwell the tac series comes with. I went back to metalform mags w/baseplates problem solved. Unless of course your grip is hitting the release but i'm sure you checked that.

Just got my match pro ultra yesterday and so far love it. Hope to get some custom grips made for it.
