The ameliorating factor for me is these are for my rifle only. It's a hearty AR barrel, mates!

I had to look up ameliorating :)

So did I.

As in, firing these rounds in my pistols would be painful.

The #9 & Blue Dot load I'd have no problem firing in my G20.

The Longshot load, I was topping out between 8.8 & 9.4, depending on the 180.

BE-86? Not worth a darn, IMO.

BE-86 is a good loading for when Shit Hit The Fan, where you want a lot of loads, not so much the fastest velocity...It is very versatile across many calibers/cartridges.

With 800X and LongShot  200 grain 9.2 - 9.4 and the 180 grain 9.4 - 9.6  are where I stop with them...have tested more but have backed off so they work with any or all my pistols.

Blue Dot is still one of my mainstay for everything...

The BE-86 is just to see if the 10mm AR will run on it. Just in case, for when the SHTF.  :D

Oh, SHTF loads, I have about 800 of those, spanning 40 different powders :)

BE-86 works fine, I just could never duplicate some of the claimed velocities before reaching my stopping point.

I love QuickLoad... It is a tinkerers dream come true.

But it is not a replacement for a reloading manual.

As Benchrest said earlier....with a  little calibration, it can be darn near exact with bottleneck rifle rounds but with straight walled rounds it just isn't near as good... It can be, but it takes a whole lot of tweaking the program.

Every data point in the program is an average.... None of them are exact... And many are just plain wrong.

But it can all be adjusted.... I'm working on calibrating it for my load (AA9 and a 200 XTP) but haven't quite got it dialed in yet.

If a person was buying QuickLoad primarily for pistol rounds, that money would be better spent on components (bullets, brass, primers, etc)... Because it won't save you any.

Vivacity testing:

I'm not a physicist, haven't played one on YouTube, and don't recall having ever stayed at a Holiday Inn. That said, it seems easy to imagine, likely in error, the effects of rapid pressurization within a spherical environment, expanding against one specific point, and calculating that effect.

For our purposes, a bottle necked cartridge is the best analogy, a straight walled cartridge much less so.

It should also be taken into consideration that I barely passed 7th grade :)

So I shot up a goodly amount of my ammo today. In the name of science, I always get the dirty jobs.......

Not even a hint of over pressure. 10mm DI AR ran like a champ. I had one round that didn't want to feed smoothly, tried three times in the middle of a magazine, but that one would stop partially in the prechamber, so I just set it aside. My first homeload FTF.

Tagging this as I use QL almost exclusively.

I've been contemplating purchasing QL. It is a little pricey, but from what I hear it is worth it.

QL is a good program...however QL has not been all that great for the 10mm pistol based on what several others using the program have done calculations for me.  There are several powders that are not in the data base, 800X is one of those powders.

So, here is a 5ยข idea for free...

No reason in this day and age that quickload has to be installed software.  What it does is easily adapted to web.  Put in data, get results.

Benefits?  There are tons of guys out there that won't pay for full pop quickload for a variety of reasons, but would gladly spend a few bucks to run the package a couple of times from a webpage.

Off topic I know, but as a non-windows guy, I can dream.
