I'll be honest, though... until I see one in the rack at my LGS, I'm not holding my breath (the sad mantra of a 10mm fan).

OMG, a 10mm XDS would compete directly with the Glock 29, but in a slimmer package and certainly more concealable. I would be all over it! Will it ever happen? Probably not.

We really hope it is!  I think the XD(M) is a great platform and I'd definitely be in line for it.
Sadly, though, there's a long history of announcements like this that never come to fruition, and so I think a lot of us meet any new 10mm announcement with a fair degree of skepticism.  I don't think the annoyance expressed here is so much doubt in Springfield alone as the industry in general: a chance to vent over all our cancelled or never-produced hopes and dreams, especially the announced ones.
That being said, I'm currently holding off on another 10mm purchase until I can handle a Witness P Match Pro and an XD(M) 10mm to see which one I like more.  In the mean time, I'm off to search for unicorns...

The problem is the difference between what I want and what my wallet can handle!
