Hi all, new to the forum but started my 10mm obsession in the early 90's with my S&W 1026. I recently purchased a GP P40 and had the same mag drop issues as some here have stated. Also had some feed/eject  problems so I sent it to one of the repair centers on Eagle import's website with a description of the issues I was having. I was very pleased with the turn around time of about 2 weeks. I took it to the range today and had no issues with the magazines, I still had problems with it jamming. It ejected the empties ok but would jamb the next round often. Sometimes it would go 10-12 rounds other times it would only take 4 or 5. I tried two types of ammo both new factory loads.  I really like this pistol and want it to work. It is a very nice "soft" shooting gun. Has anyone else had this problem? Before I pay for more shipping I thought I would get some thoughts from the group.
Thanks
Jerry

Hi Jerry and welcome to the forum. I have not had any jamming problems. I did have the mag drop problem briefly but either my hold changed or the problem went away. What were you told if anything about what was causing the mag drops?

I did not get to talk to anyone, they just included a work ticket stating "fit magazine catch body".
Thanks for the reply.

Others will be along to share their experience with repairs or the lack of the need of repairs.

I realized (in the middle of the night) that the slide never locked open when the magazines emptied. It has the silver recoil spring in now, I have been reading some have red springs. Is there a difference in them and if so maybe the silver spring is to heavy?

I believe that my GP P4010mm was one of the first released in the country. It came with the red spring that is on the Eagle Imports website. I have only had feed issues with low power loads. You might try ordering a red spring they are like $9.00 and see how that does.

Thanks SavageOne, I ordered one this morning. I will report back as soon as I can.

I also just received my p40 10mm. The gun shoots great. I had no issues with the mag drop. I had no issues with it jamming except when my wife shot one mag through it, the gun jammed twice. I only had 50 rounds. I was just dyeing to take it out to the range. One thing I noticed is the gun when empty the slide didn't lock back (I don't know the technical term for this). I couldn't get the mags fully loaded after 10 rounds I think the hulk needs to come in to get more rounds in the mag. One other gripe is putting this baby back together after cleaning. I don't think it would be so bad if you had 3 hands. So I had my wife help me and went back together with less trouble.

The mags are extremely tight the first few times you feed them. They get better with time or you can sit there when you are watching TV and load and unload them. Regardless, an UpLula is your friend. https://www.amazon.com/Maglula-Universal-Magazine-Unloader-9MM-45ACP/dp/B010EJV000/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1487325928&sr=8-2&keywords=uplula. Putting it back together gets better also with practice. What is your overall impression of the gun?

Congrats fishinfoolak, I am still waiting on a new recoil spring for mine before I do anymore with it. I am confident that it will fix it. I have also had trouble with loading the mags. When it gets to the point that it won't take anymore I hold it in one hand and tap it in the palm of my other hand till I feel the rounds "loosen up" then I continue loading.

PCFlorida....thanks for the link, I am definitely going to pick one of these up.

You will wonder why you have been loading by hand all these years :)

I really like the gun. I was watching some people shooting a glock 10mm at the range. You could tell it had significantly more recoil than the p40. I just ordered one of those reloader deals on amazon

LOL, good. Like I said you will wonder why you were reloading by hand all these years :)

Got my new recoil spring today, now to just get time to go to the range! It is 1 3/4 inches shorter than the one that came with the pistol but feels a little stiffer. I have no way of testing it.    PCFlorida.......I picked up a MagLula at the gun show in KC today needless to say I feel like I have been living under a rock. I love this thing!!

Which service center did you send your gun to?

And I'm definitely interested in how the red spring is working for you.   I have the longer silver spring and it makes the gun harder to reassemble, so I've been thinking about getting the red spring.
