Howa is releasing a 6.5 Grendel anytime now.  That's my next gun with out question.  I am about to get into reloading so this will be a fun caliber along with the 10mm.  Since I've recently got into shooting steel ar500 targets I wanted something that would hit at long distances with . Another reason I like it is because it's a versatile hunting caliber  . I can hunt deer , coyote , and groundhog  with one gun . I'm wanting to buy just the action and barrel then get a bell and carlson  stock to make a tack driver . Howa already makes a fine 2 stage trigger so for around $800 without glass I can have a 3/4" moa rifle . My 223 Howa with a bell and carlson stock shoot 3/4" at 100yds with black hills Sierra match kings 69gr . Howa is hurting remington rifle sales according to our lgs. They come with Houge over molded stocks that are ok , but they do flex some .

Sounds like a fun gun.  A grendel upper is in the works for my AR stable, primarily since it will share bullets with my 260 remington.  I am anxious to hear how you like it!

At one time I was thinking about the Grendel AR , then I saw how expensive and hard to find ammo is , :o . If you reload then onwards way my friend.  Ive heard that it a reloaders cartridge,  since only a few manufacturers make them. The bullets have a high ballistic coefficient number .

I also looked at the 6.5PCC, but it's lower case capacity drops to much velocity.

I wish there was a good 6.5 option for the AR-15 platform based on either 223 or 308 brass.  It would be nice to have compatibility that way.  And, if I really like shooting the 260, I may never get around to the 6.5 grendel.  Or I might go 6.8 spc cause when the necks split I could just trim the case down to 10mm brass.

You may like the 25-45 sharps . It's a 223 necked up to a .25 caliber.  3000 fps 1700ft/lbs . Same company that makes the Sharps rifle patented it. You can buy uppers on their website.  They even sell reloading components and ammo in .25-45.

The Howa Mini action rifles are very nice.  The extractor design is much better than Savage, Remington, or Mossberg and the action is extremely smooth.  Right up with with an older Sako.

I rebarreled this one in .375 SOCOM.

Tony , very nice !!!  Was the barrel difficult to take off ?  On another forum I saw were they are a bugger to get off . Mine came with the cheap Hogue stock so I got an aluminum bedded Bell and Carlson stock . It made a huge difference. I went from shooting 2" @100yds to 0.75"  I think Howa makes the best bolt action rifle for the money . Sure there are better bolt actions , but not at this price .

I have a Howa 6.5 Swedish which I love. It has just the Hogue stock, which is very comfortable for just shooting and hunting. If I ever wanted to accurize it, I'd probably also got with the more rigid B+C stock. Still, for just practicing and shooting at steel plates out to a few hundred yards, it works fine.

I have been testing my new 21" heavy barreled Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel. It's a sub .75 MOA shooter with Hornady A-max 123gr ammo. I will be doing load development with this rifle using Hornady brass and 95-100gr bullets for coyotes and prairie dogs.

Further testing is showing it to be a closer to a .60 moa gun with factory ammo. I'm now working up some 95gr V-max load for it.

I got my Howa mini grendel back before Christmas and have enjoyed it very much . My 14yo daughter took over it so I gave it to her. At first I put my Vortex 1-6 strike eagle on it and she wanted something with more power so I gave her my Nikon monarch 5  4-20x50 with 20moa warne picatinny base. She is getting close to 1moa . I'm getting about .75 moa . Its one heck of a shooter . She also shot her first deer (doe) with it on Christmas morning. First shot kill 150 yds away with the swift scirocco 130gr , ran about 15 yds then flopped.  Since my last post grendel ammo prices have dropped .  Federal just released 3 more loadings fusion 120 , gold medal match 130 with berger bullet and 90gr tnt speer . Hornady dropped the Amax for the eld match 123gr and dropped the price about  $5. Wolf makes a cheap bimetal load for $5 a box . CZ announced that they will make the 527 bolt action in the 6.5 grendel , Vepr AK offers a 6.5 Grendel . A couple more manufacturers are dabbling with the idea too , so it's looking like the 6.5 grendel is here to stay for a while .
