Took the RIA out for the maiden voyage today. Had a couple small failures but still getting broke in. My only complaint so far is it shoots about 8-10" low at 25 yds with the rear sight bottomed out. The front sight is the hi-viz type so no filing here. Shot 155-200 grn bullets, lead and jacketed. Any suggestions?

You must move your rear sight in the direction you want to move you group.

Raise your rear sight up.

I tried raising sight and shot even lower! Seems to me if raise the rear sight it just pushes the front one lower.

Raising the rear sight makes you raise the muzzle higher and raises the point of impact.

Turn the elevation screw counter clockwise.

Another thing I'd like to know is how do you change the angle of ejected brass? Most brass goes to 2'oclock,in front of the firing line. I'd like to have it at about 4-5 o'clock.

You likely need to tune your extractor or perhaps your load.

Extractor or ejector?

Well, both.  On a 1911 the ejector is strategically shaped and placed to knock the fired casing from the extractor's grasp on the recoil cycle.

Just checked tension on the extractor, that's OK. Not sure what to look for on the ejector. On the plus side I'm now hitting dead on at 25 yds.

Did some research on the ejector and am in the process of reshaping it to get the brass where I want it to go. Thanx for the help on the sights, been a long time since I shot open adjustable sights.
