Nice, the 80's had some great cop shows, especially Miami Vice.

Still like the show. Going to order it on Blue-Ray soon. I'd rather watch reruns of Miami Vice than many police shows of today.

I lived it!  :P it was pretty wild down here in the 80's. fast boats and faster women!  ;D

The_Shadow

Speaking of fast boats Don Johnson and Kurt Russell used to race in some offshore races along with Al Copeland and Chuck Norris.

Found a cool picture the other day...

This is funny. I used to love those 70s cop shows but when I bought a DVD with the best collection of 70s cop shows it was so campy that I couldn't believe I enjoyed them.

Ever notice that their fingers is on the triggers all the time they're holding them? Talk about how times changed.  :))

Today's cop shows are so much better. NCIS is my absolute favorite.
How powerful is 10mm? Well, see those craters on the moon?

There's one thing that shows up on all the cop shows these days that seems like a bad idea to me (although I suspect it's what all the new cop recruits are actually being taught now): when a swat team enters a house, expecting to get shot at, they do all their scanning of a room looking through the sights of their gun,  aiming their gun with arms straight, rigid, and fully extended.  That seems like a slow way to visually check out the full range of directions in the room, because a fully extended gun has a large moment of inertia, compared to just rotating your head and eyes around the room (with your gun held near your chest, ready to extend quickly when you've spotted a threat).

I just retired about 1 1/2 years ago and that's not what we were ever taught. But, it's a TV show so that's not a very good gauge of actual tactics. Room clearing and building movement takes place with the weapon held at low ready, elbows bent, weapon's muzzle pointed at 45 degree angle downward, finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard. Your head moves to scan the room or area.

Thanks for that info ... I'm glad to hear that.
