My name is Dennis. I am a retired piping designer. I am in the process of building a 1911 45 acp but plan on building a 10mm next. I am looking for all the information  I can get. Maybe I will be able to add to some also.
Thanks to be a part of this forum.

RIA is 70 series. That part isn't caliber specific. I used Wilson combat on my version of that pistol. But EGW is highly respected.
Thanks, not sure why EGW lists different calibers...

Welcome old piper.

Zanderman, I think the 9/38/40 stops are cut a bit narrower to clear the different ejector for the smaller calibers.  The ones Brownells stocks have worked in all my guns, which I why I posted up that link.  I can't remember if I had to clearance them for the ejector or not though, so I can't say if the brownells ones are the 45 version of the 9/38/40 version.  Both would work in either platform.  The 45 in a 10mm would need a bit more fitting, the 9/38/40 on a 45 slide might reveal a bit of the slide.

Old_piper, Welcome to the forum and good luck with you builds!
Don't forget about Fusion Arms as they have plenty of parts for the builder...

Best regards!  :D

I have a Fusion, but I was too mechanically inept to get a kit, I let THEM build it.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Hello all.  My first post.

Name is Tim (48). I live in Kansas City Missouri. I splice copper and fibre optic telecommunication lines.

I am more of a forum lurker than a poster.  I have mastered the art of gaining information by using the search function.  I have found that since I am usually not the first one to the party my question has already been asked by multiple people and therefore the answer is already out there.

Lifetime GOA and NRA member.  My 10mm experience started not with my first firearm, a Taurus 689V I believe (6" SS vent rib 357 magnum), but with my second one.  My girlfriend at the time believed that I only needed one firearm so when I purchased my Glock 20 (no SF or the like back around 1992) I had to sell my 357.  Well, that happened and then a year later we parted ways.  I was still poor so that was my sole handgun for many years.  I shot multiple hundreds of rounds through it nearly every Sunday.  I should say that since I was cash shy I partnered with a friend and we bought a Dillon RL550B press and I reloaded for the 357 and 10mm and his 9mm.  That is the only way to afford shooting.  Many years later I was contacted by an acquaintance who owned a gun store.  Apparently we had talked about the 10mm although I can't recall how he knew I wanted another one.  Well, he traded for a used S&W 1006 and called me before he put it out for sale.  Bought that, now up to 2.  I have always loved the round but I hate the magical way that both guns can fling brass  to places unknown.  I cringe when I loose any brass ESPECIALLY 10mm!  So, I did the sensible thing and stopped shooting them.   I then added many other firearms in various calibers.  After all, 40 S&W brass was plentiful.  45 ACP brass was everywhere.  357 and 44 Magnum didn't disappear. Later, 9mm, well, I have buckets of it.

So I digress.  Last month when I am picking up a few new CCW 9mm's I am waiting for the store employee to enter my 4473 information into the computer I look over (I just went in to the store to pick up a transfer and spotted another gun I wanted) I see the Sig P220 Elite SAO 10mm Nitron under a glass display case.  Well, picked it up too.  So, now I have three 10's.  I knew about a few other manufacturers of course but I had no idea that there were so many other choices.  I want to get back into shooting the 10's but the brass disappearing act still has me flummoxed.  Many years ago I bought 1000 Starline new cases but I don't want to get into them.  Remember I hate to loose brass.  It seems to consume me while shooting.

Well, I have taken up quite a bit of space to say that I really like the 10mm and this forum looks great!  Oh, I found this forum because I did a search on Cleaning brass with citric acid.  When I saw the first link with 10mm-firearms.com in it I knew this was the place for me.

Thanks for having this site!

Welcome to the forum Tim, you are at the right place here.  One thing I have noticed is that the 10mm addiction is all too real even for you!  :D

I started my 10mm venture back in the 80's as I was studying the cartridge and its ballistics, and when S&W produced the 1006, I jumped into by ordering me one.  I took delivery March 1990 and handloaded for it day one.  My love and passion for the 10mm has never stopped and at last count I had 10 of them to include the Bren Ten SM and each of the Smith & Wesson 10xx series that includes a S&W1046 and two of the S&W1086's.  Yes the addiction has me looking at even more of the 10mm pistols... ::)

The brass does seem to achieve a low earth orbit, so losing a few brass is very real...I was lucky early on as Navy Seals and FBI were kind enough to leave 10 mil brass on their range for a scrounger like me!  :P  Most had fluted markings as they were being shot from the HK MP-5's.

Anyway it seems you have found the right forum here, best regards!

We'll she was 20+ years ago. I have wised up since.  Won't be bullied like that again.

I feel the same about some coming apocalypse. I'll have enough to share.  Haha.

It seems that I want one (at least) of each of the available 10's. Obsession really. Wish I had a lot of disposable income to satiate my desire. I am happy though that a manufacturer introduced the supposedly dying cartridge. Used to anger me when the demise of the 10mm was all one would hear on the forums.

Thanks for the welcome,
Tim

What a great website!
I'm Jeff from the Charlotte NC area and am not only new to this site but the 10mm world as well. Picked up my first for Birthday/Xmas in December and now believe I'm hooked. I'll leave feedback on my EAA in the appropriate place, but you all are a wealth of knowledge and I really enjoy all the information here.
When my friends ask "Why a 10mm?" I tell them "Because they don't make an 11mm"

Welcome to the site Jeff!

Which EAA product do you have?

Rolf

I was almost afraid you were going to ask - but here it goes!
After hours of research and holding a number of them, I knew I needed more than 8 rounds and didn't want to break the bank and I just don't like Glocks. Sight-unseen (the first time I have ever done it) I ordered the Full-Size steel wonder finish (I can hear the boos now!). I figured for $530 out the door it would be worth it - and is it!
They must have made changes as all the horror stories I have heard seem to have been addressed. The slide is different (tapered at the front of the ejection port), the guide-rod is wide and flat (similar to the Henning) and has a red-dot (mark) on the front sight (as opposed to what I heard was plain black). It did shoot low out of the box, but as I'm messing around with the Wolff springs it is dead-on with the 20#. 200 rounds in and 200 rounds out - no issues whatsoever.
What is also funny is all my shooting buddies have never seen one before and absolutely LOVE the wonder finish!
Go figure.
When my friends ask "Why a 10mm?" I tell them "Because they don't make an 11mm"

No "boos" here!

Mine needed some TLC.  Extra power mag springs seemed to do the trick for the occasional bolt-over-base failure to feed I saw.  I do run a heavier recoil spring too, 22lb as I recall.

The Wonder Finish was the biggest achilles heel on mine.  After several years as my EDC it needed to be addressed, so it got sandblasted, parkerized and cerakoted, DIY style.  I documented it here in the gunsmithing section.

It is a solid 10mm handgun at a great price.  In fact, I carried mine last Saturday (maybe it was Friday).
