Great Shooting! You partially credit the M.O.S.?
I am looking to get the LWD long slide for my G20C.  Do you have any input about Slide mounted optics
versus a regular optic mounted on a  wrap around rail?
With my old eyes, a dot sight defiantly helps with accuracy.  When I was in my late thirty's, I switched to fiber optic front sights so I could see them.  Today, I can barely keep them in focus. :'(

With frame mounted optics, you loose a small percentage of accuracy potential due to the slide to frame fit.
Slide mounted optics take more of a beating due to the shock of recoil and having to withstand the back and forth motion on the slide.  In USPSA open division, the early ones from 10 years ago (J-point, Doctor optic, etc) rarely lasted more than 5K rounds of Major class loads.  Today, it's getting better. (and cheaper)

On a hunting / range gun I prefer the dot.  On a defensive gun, still prefer the rugged old open post & notch.

Got out to the range today and burnt up some gunpowder for my own version of aroma therapy.  Discovered, depending on the powder, the extra inch of barrel gives me anywhere from an extra 50 f.p.s. - 9 f.p.s.  That's right 9 f.p.s. (WSF)

Not surprising, BE-86, Power Pistol, and Longshot averaged +30f.p.s. with #9 averaging +50 f.p.s. out of the 6" Glock.

Even tried my hand at a 50 yard group with the 200 gr #9 load.

5 shots.  One called flyer.  (still trying to catch on to the trigger)
The other four went into a 2.25" group.  Velocity was 1120 f.p.s.

20 and the 6.6" LWD barrel!  Great Groups!

If you're considering the LWD long slide, I recommend getting the .45ACP version, and have it milled to the G40 MOS optic pattern. You can source individual Glock optic plates, or a plate kit, and it will have all the hardware you'll need to mount nearly any of the popular/common optics (including a rail). The rail cut may be appealing, but it positions the optics to far off the bore axis. You retain the dovetail, so any traditional sight (or witness sights) remain the same.

The reason for the .45 version suggestion is, you may not want to ONLY shoot 10/40 case heads. It opens options for 10's and .45's, up to and including .460 Rowland. It will fit all the G20 barrels and cycle fine. Make sure you get the .45 LCI extractor (and remainder of the .45ACP slide parts, the LWD kit is good), and it'll handle the 10/40's just fine (except the "I" part won't "I" with 10/40's). Both use the same size RSA's. This is what I used for my .460R build, and it fires all the 10/40 head barrels, 10mm, .40SW, 9x25D, 9mm Luger, as well as the .45 head barrels, .45ACP, .45Super, .40Super, .400C, .460R. Barrel (sometimes), spring, and mag changes are all that's needed.

I milled my LW to accept my Trijicon. Enough shoulder to accept the optic and support it and then drilled and tapped the screw holes.

I picked one up today too. I have been carrying my G29 with the Springer Precision Red Dot dovetail mount just to see if I liked a red dot and I did.
I was able to use a GSSF Discount coupon so out the door for $626. I ordered some suppressor sights and changed out a few parts to improve the trigger. I will get to the range in the next few days.

I am not sure on a holster yet. I have a Hume JIT that will work for now and an UM nylon shoulder holster and maybe go with a chest rig later or a better hip holster. I will need to see how it goes with truck seats and tree stands.

Hey @frankt did the plate for the vortex red dot come with the plate kit with the glock or did you have to buy a separate plate?

frankt

It is the same one that fits the Burris bolt pattern.
The Vortex might be a little thinner as I have heard the included screws were too short to mount the FF but they seemed fine with the Vortex.

I rechecked the screws after 100 rounds on the range today and everything was still tight.

When I mounted my FF3, the supplied screws were too short.  I ended up using the cover plate screws and trimming them down to fit.

For me, it was between the Vortex and the FF3, and decided to go with the Burris on price.  How do you like the Vortex?  I'm amazed at the lens quality on the FF3 for a $200 optic.

I like the Vortex a lot. It came with an adapter to use on a picatinny rail. Just a quality piece of equipment.

I am still on the same battery and have carried it quite a few days in the woods with it on from daylight to dark. I would buy another.

I put the Zev springs and connector in today. Trigger pull was stout when trying to make 50 yard shots. It brought the pull from 5.5 to 3.5. I should be able to get better groups with it now.
