Does anyone have any experience with UW 255gr hardcast?

Shot the UW load today from my Glock 30 and they are on the stout side. My guess is they will penetrate very well. They sure will make a large hole in whatever it hits.

Osageid

I have shot their 200 gr JHP - stout is appropriate

I haven't bought any storebought .45 since....well since when I got in my .45 dies I ordered after I bought my first .45. I think over the last twenty years, I bought a grand total of one box.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Stout load for sure. I think this is the best "woods load" available for the 45acp. I wonder how well it will penetrate?

Just when you think the .45 ACP has reached it's limits. "Pushing the envelope" seems to be "the phrase of the day" when it comes to Underwood's loads.

I got the idea from reading John Taffin articles back in the 90's.  Trying to duplicate the old black powder 45 Colt load the ACP was replacing.  His pet load was a +P load of 6.0gr-6.5gr of Unique for around 850 f.p.s.  I did the same thing testing with newer slower burning powders I thought would be more appropriate without having to go up into the +P pressures.

sqlbullet

The US Military load for the 45 Long Colt was 30 grains of black powder under a 250 grain bullet for 800 fps.

Commercial loads of the time used 35 grains of black powder with the same bullet for 900+ fps.

The 45 ACP was meant to be between the 45 Schofield and 45 Colt in ballistics, and fits that description nicely.
