Yea, love them or hate them you can't argue with a performance like that you can't sell them short.  With some tweaks they should work even better under those conditions... 8)

Sitting here putting 9mm ammo together as I type...LOL

I still like my metal pistols! Plastic has it's benefits in carry, but wonder who decided on that plastic guide rod?

My bet would be:  plastic guide rode comes standard in Glocks; so it was left to show results in off the shelf pistol (modified to shoot full auto of course).  They obviously expected original plastic guide to melt as they had backup steel rod; but it took 800 or 900 rounds of continuous automatic fire.  They melted Ak47 & AR15 in same manner.

The Engineer needs fired  ;D Guide rod = metal

The plastic guide rod is fine for most. You are never going to get a semi Glock hot enough to melt it. I've never had any problem from one.

Spoke to a Glock armorer. The current production Gen 3 Glock guide rod / RSA is marked "-1." These newer guide rods won't melt. This improvement stemmed from a 1000 round torture test conducted by James Yeager, where the guide rod melted and the Glock 19 kept firing. If you don't believe me google it for yourself.

The Gen 4 RSA / guide rods are, of course, made mostly of metal.

No doubt you're right.  Hundreds of thousands, millions even come with the plastic guide rods and run & run without a hitch.

None the less, many prefer the extra measure of reassurance provided by stainless and don't think Glock continuing plastic in the Gen 4's.
Like so many other things, guess it comes down to personal preference... ;)

Stability.  Plastic won't give it to you.

Apparently not. But the Glock lasted appreciably more than the AR 15 and AK meltdowns in the other videos Iraqveteran posted.

I think it's great what it did. In the video it doesn't appear the plastic guide rod is keeping things stable and I will stick with that. I love Glocks  ;D

Yes, but read my post above. The -1 RSA's are an upgrade to the older gen rods, and the Gen 4's are metal.

And a G20 wouldn't last as long either.  More powder burned equates to more heat.
