Newbie question, but I have the chance to grab 8 lbs of Longshot locally and it looks like Hornady manual and Hodgdon have load data for it.  Do others find it a good 10mm powder?  And does it meter decently?

Yes longShot meter well and a little goes a long way and it has a great velocity yield.  You should research some of the 10mm pull downs that have used it for what it can do for you.

You can't go wrong. It is one of a small handful of great 10mm powders.

just bought another pound today a lgs i guess cant seem to sell it or bought a shit ton of it...they are charging 30 a pound though

My favorite 10mm powder.

I use it for .45ACP as well despite the experts saying it's not great in that low pressure cartridge and it works fine for me.

I just started loading with LongShot and am getting excellent accuracy and expected velocity which is very good.  One thing I really like about it is that it produces great velocity with current load data maximums.  I like 800X too but it seems like you have to violate current load data to get max velocity.

Agreed on LongShot.  I haven't gone outside of book data in any other caliber (maybe slightly on 357 mag), and I didn't want to start on 10mm.  LongShot has done great in my limited testing thus far and it might be the only powder I use in 10mm.

Well, I grabbed a bunch of it locally (10 lbs) going to try and get some loaded up for testing this weekend!  Just got 200 cases run through my "Redding G-Rx Carbide Base Sizing Die" (very nice die - glad I purchased it).

Wow, good for you on the powder score!  when you used your base sizing die did you happen to Mike the case head area before and after to see if anything was happening? I was resizing some once fired brass the other day with mine and there were no changes and of course it had not been fired in a Glock so maybe that's part of why it was good already. mine sized at .422 with the regular sizing die before I tried use the base sizer.

No, I didn't measure with calipers, just used a Dillon case gauge.  They all wouldn't fit before resizing, after they dropped right in...  And all the rounds were fired in Glock 20 or 29!  I don't remember why I didn't test a handful through the old S&W 1006, I guess something I'll have to remember to do and keep the brass separate.
