Need some parts for a 1066.  1) Adjustable rear sight.  Was a factory option and I have always carried adjustable sights on my firearms used on the job as a LEO.  Present sight is in a dovetail and supposedly driftable (very hard) for windage.  NO adjustability for elevation.

Bought handgun online and was bummed when it arrived with the crappy rear sight.  S&W has none in stock.  It appears from exploded drawing that an adjustable version has SS "ears" protecting the mechanism.

2)  Same gun.  Came with bobbed hammer.  DAO?  I like hammers so it might take the SS hammer part and MAYBE another piece of the action buried deep inside with a sear to engage a notch in the replacement part WITH hammer.

Is it true that some Generation 3 10mm model will accept a double stack magazine??    Thor

1) The 1066 came both was if I recall, but the slide is milled differently for the S&W factory adj. sights to accept the winged protection and sight holder.  This folded wing also holds down some parts under the sight.  There was a company (MMC) that made an adj. sight that was a mini version, but are no longer made. Sorry.

2) I remember the bobbed hammer from a picture you posted, I thought it was cool, The hammers are pretty specific to the different guns, finding the actual part will be a challenge.  And then fitting it properly...or you could weld or sorder the peice on the one you have. Good luck!

3) None of the 10xx guns accepted the double stack magazines...the 40xx series did take double stack mags.  Some of the 40xx were single stack like the 4013 4043, those mags have a spacer in the rear section that could be removed and they would accept 10mm ammo and the barrels could be reamed to accept 10mm and a rework of the recoil system would allow the use of the 10mm ammo effectively making it a 1013, at S&W forum BM1 did just that... 8)

From the looks of the Schematic on Numerich,(page with Sights listed linked below), the Adjustable sight is available on a completely different slide than the dovetailed slide. I was looking up other parts when I read your post, so figured it would take me 2 seconds to look on your behalf.

If your 10mm came with the Novak rear sight then you can use one of the LPA sights http://www.midwayusa.com/product/927820/lpa-tr-rear-sight-s-and-w-3rd-generation-semi-auto-with-novak-rear-sight-10mm-auto-steel-blue-white-outline I bought a few of there sights but havent installed them yet.

We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among the millions and millions of cows in America, but we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located.

Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

I have quite a few 3rd gen S&W's and the only adjustable rear sight that I have gotten to work on an original fixed sight pistol is the old Millett sights which require replacement of the front sight blade also. The problem is that they are obsolete. I was able to install a set on a 4013 and they are superior even to the factory S&W adjustable sights. If you have any older gunsmith shops in your area you can see if they have any in stock and they show up on ebay every once in a while.
