I was hoping Colt might make more than just the Delta Elite and maybe add a 10mm back to the Gold Cup line.  Oh well.

Its a amazing platform, more guns and ammo please.

It is no doubt back on the rise. I wish some police departments would go back to it.

Too many small framed people in police work these days though.

If a couple of large LEO agencies would adopt it, and a few more choices were offered in carbines by the major manufacturers it would 'explode' onto the marketplace.  Everyone here understands the 'versatility' of the cartridge, but for venues like 'hog hunting' I think it's only scratched-the-surface, so-to-speak.  The advent of the new SIG will help-out immensely in spreading the popularity.  The 10mm was announced in 1983, and declared DOA before 2000.  32 years later, we're a vibrant alternative 'alive and kicking' and the legend keeps on growing!  Basically, kept alive by people like us the 'true believers'.  One problem has always been, that most people are lazy, and won't try anything new, that's outside-of-the-box.  Plus, the 10mm has always been over-shadowed by the .45 ACP.  Some of the 'Fudds" running the large firearms concerns like:  Remington, Ruger, etc., need to 'really look' at what their customers desire.  When auto companies allowed visionaries like:   John Delorean, and Carroll Shelby to build cars for the marketplace, the products sold like proverbial 'hotcakes'.  When 'bean-counters' totally control creativity, it usually signals the 'death-knoll' for new products, and helps jettison the required talent out-the-door.  Maybe, this is a sign the industry is finally waking-up to the demand for 10mm firearms, and ammunition.  Let's hope so!

I don't want to bust any bubbles here but I highly doubt any Law Enforcement agencies will adopt the 10mm as many are moving away from the 40S&W's and back to 9mm's like the FBI...they think they found the magic bullets I suppose.

The local Sheriff's Office here has switched back to 9mm's and away from 40S&W and 45's...

Unless the Army decides to jump on the 10mm as their choice of new weapon, the 10mm will continue to be an enthusiast cartridge...

Wusses - they are all wusses!

I will be 63 in March and have 2 10mm guns.  Going to add a 45 just for variety.  Anyone who thinks it is impossible to control a 10mm should attend my tactical training classes where 2 other people besides me use a 10mm for their training.

JUST EXCUSES if you ask me....

I don't disagree Pat.  Anyone can learn to control it.

Learning to control a 10mm does takes a good bit more time and effort than a 9mm.  Not saying I don't think it is worth it.  Clearly I think it is.

But, most police departments have very minimal training with firearms.  And too many officers are just reaching those minimums.  Not guys that I think would do well with a 45 or a 10mm.  They are struggling with the 40, which is why they are moving back to the 9mm.

The reality is the 9mm is easy to shoot.  It is easy to achieve competence with.  So, unless LE agencies are going to change their policies with regard to training and qualification standards, they aren't likely to adopt a more potent round.

10mm would make a great handgun for military applications in the desert.

But we know how it would go, half the people shooting it would have trouble qualifying if they used even decent 10mm loads.

Yes, I know the 9mm is easier to handle and police officers come in all shapes, sizes and strengths.  I just have such a strong personal aversion against the 9mm; but I have always maintained I would not be critical of other's choices and preferences in gun and rounds.

I guess what really bugs me is many of these people have probably never shot a 10mm.  I know every time someone tries one of my two 10mm's they are shocked at first (if they have never shot the 10mm), THEN go on to say that they think they could learn to handle it.

My double taps are certainly slower than when I shoot a 9mm or 45, but I also am of the belief one well place 10mm is going to do significantly more harm than a 9mm, thus improving the chances for fewer shots fired to achieve a stop.  This is NOT scientific and I don't claim it to be, but I honestly believe it.

Long live our 10mm!

I don't even think hot 10mm loads have that much recoil.

I think 10mm would be an excellent choice for exactly that reason......well what I mean to say, it could be loaded really hot for operators on the fringes and standard for regular carry.
