The last time I rebuilt it, I went with some wood strips anchored to the floor to attach the diffuser rods. The angled holes are wearing pretty bad now and I want to upgrade them to a better material. I'm working with the same person that made my Super Match base pads to make them.

Would anyone here be interested in a pair while he is doing mine? He suggested Nylon and I was thinking Aluminum.

Fascinating idea - would help keep them out of the way.

It's worked great in wood. Just need something that isn't going to oblong from the tension.

After my last outing on a rainy day I may make a diffuser from a white translucent plastic trash can or the white corrugated sign boards.  That would keep the rain off but still allow enough light to pass.

Got the parts back today and put it together. I really like how sturdy the Aluminum pieces are! I may have to add an extra slat up top to cut down on the tension. This is Rev. 1.2 and I probably should get ready to submit it to the Guinness Book Of World Records for amount of ammo passed over a Chronograph  ;D

Looks good IC!  I was using bamboo skewers to hold portions of the gallon water jugs cut from the bottom section to form the diffusers...cheap and easily replaceable.

After the rainy day event I had while shooting I actually thought about using a small translucent plastic waste can as the diffuser.  That would act as a rain shield and keep the rain from blowing on the sensors.  Haven't done it yet but haven't given up on the idea either.

BTW do you have a function switch for you unit?

F1 Shooting Chrony
Here's the deal.. You can buy an F1 Shooting Chrony for only $69 on sale but to "access" all the cool features like Hi, Lo, Average Dev, Standard Dev, extreme spread, etc you need to buy a "remote" or printer that plugs into the "FU" jack.. I thought it was funny that they called it an "F-U" jack since it's such a simple device to exponentially increase the usability of the device - FU obviously means "function"

On a 1/8 inch stereo headphone jack there are three poles - the tip, the middle, and the "base". Even though it is a two pole connection, the Chrony uses the middle and base connections on the plug. All you need to do is solder a length of speaker wire to the above mentioned poles of the plug and put a momentary contact switch at the other end!

Please note that the "tip" connection on the jack's plug is NOT used. I'm hoping that sharing this information will nudge few of my fellow loaders into plunking down for a Chrony now that all of the features can be accessed without purchasing expensive "Extras".

I wished I had seen this thread earlier!  I just received my CE Pro Chrono Digital and the remote computer software/hookup to go with it...  I am going to try and take it to the ranch tomorrow and test out.  Hopefully I didn't waste my money.
