Sorry I searched several pages and didn't see my particular deal..I have a lee classic and the 4 die deluxe set, wondering if any can help me out..should I gently use the fcd a little tighter or readjust the seating die? I am at the bench daily. ..no hurry..my first post and many on jere have helped me and my friends out tremendously. .especially shadow and his pull downs..glancing through the pages..I seen many using the new hi tek type coated bullets and was wondering about them? Meaning feed quality. .these 180gr tc are hardball and produced by a new vendor..I want to do all I can to help him out..but they say .401...they weigh from 178 to 181gr and seem to seat great..this isn't the first cast to hang up on the storms feed ramp..a 155gr swc was terrible. .thanks again..great group and always appreciated. .

Sean, here is what I do, all of my used brass goes through my LEE FCD with it's guts removed used as a Pass-Through die.

Then all cases are sized and deprimed using the standard sizer die.
Then I expand my case neck/mouth just large enough to accept the bullet's base.
I hand weigh all my powder charges...just my way of doing things...I have to know!

I seat the bullets to depth with my seater die raised 1/8" using a spacer ring so no crimp is applied while seating the bullet.  If the case mouth starts to close while the bullet is still being pushed deeper it can crush the casing, snag the bullet and damage it, or roll up bullet material on the casing mouth rim.

After all bullets are seated to proper depth, I remove my spacer and adjust the seater stem up so it doesn't contact the bullet and perform the crimp of the casing to push the casing back in against the bullet.  Because the bullet is not moving, you can close the crimp a little tighter without buckling the casing.  Crimp as measured on the very edge should measure 0.4220''.  The bullet should not move in or out when pushed or pulled and it should not be able to be turned inside the casing when twisted.

BTW I use RCBS dies with securely locking rings so they don't loose their adjustments.   The spacer rings are avalible from Redding Dies RCBS used to also sell them.

With my expander dies set for proper 40S&W case expansion, I can place a 0.125" spacer under the locking ring and it will properly expand the 10mm cases with no adjustments.  This also works with several other die arrangements.

My 9mm case mouth expander as set for 9mm, add one 0.125" spacer and I an do 357Sig cases add a second 0.125" spacer and I expand my 9x25Dillon cases without any adjustments to the original 9mm die setting.

With a good bullet fit I use most any powder I want, Power Pistol and Blue Dot are the ones I use the most, I have driven the 175-180 grain TC's sized at 0.4015" at 1150 - 1225 fps without any leading in any of my barrels even the Glock factory ones.
