That is a slow process for the priming part and is why it takes a while for the real LR priming.  They use a centrifugal method to disperse the priming mixture out to the rim, the priming mixture contains ground glass to help with ignition.

They way they are doing things I would not trust my life with the method they are using...

Bullseye powder would be better performing powder...

When I was a kid we made 'spoke guns' out of broken bicycle spokes. Bend the spoke to make a crude handle, and adjust 'chamber' size by how far you screwed in the nipple. Pack the nipple with match head shavings followed by a little bit of cotton for packing and add something as a projectile. Then, hold over a cigarette lighter until the heat caused ignition.    This probably wouldn't go over well these days.....yeah, I'm an old fart. 

For $200 I have enough 22lr to wait out the shortage. I am running up on 22lrs but not 500rds like I used to buy. Still paying the same price as I used to. If this guy had priced it reasonably he would make a lot more. I have 22lr for every gun I own and my son owns another 4. I new what was coming I bought for it. I have only been shooting the 10mm for a few months and have had no problems finding components. I had a 40S&W MP and sold it to buy my Witness and components, kept the MP in 9mm so all I had to find was the right powder and large pistol primers and that was no problem. I guess if you didn't buy enough and you really wanted to it can be done. But I'm going to wait.

What shortage? I knew what was going to happen if Obozo got himself re-elected, and made sure I was well stocked up before he was. Now a .22 sort of puts a big crimp in the case rim. If the bullet is in the same position it was last shot in, it isn't going to ignite. And you can only reload it so many times before the entire rim is pretty much destroyed. Plus, where you going to get the lead bullets from?

I imagine reloading 22 would be more frustrating than herding cats. Even with the recent panic/hoarding i have still managed to find decent amounts of ammo. I did not have the stockpile i would have liked to, i shot a lot of what i had up then got hurt and didnt have the funds to resupply before obozo got reelected.

How many .22 rounds are too much?

Or in simple terms, what is a nice minimum stock?

If you can still pick up the ammo can you dont have enough..  i shoot 350 or more every time i go out though. Once supply normalizes i will have at least 10,000 rounds on hand.

Why bother. I can reload 9mm for the price some scalpers are charging for 22LR.

Back in the 1970's you could buy primed 22LR brass for reloading. I can't remember anyone who reloaded 22LR since you could buy a brick of 500 for under $5 any day of the week. I remember some 50 round boxes of 22LR costing 25 and 35 cents.

The 22LR shortage is starting to subside.  CDNN and Palmetto State Armory have had 22LR in stock for over a week. It is still 2x what it should cost, but at least we now have a reference of what people are willing to pay AND what they are NOT willing to pay. This may be a good sign.
