I was just making my rounds on the web and this post struck me..."New 9MM Gold Dot G2".
The new 147gr. Gold Dot G2 ammunition with a polymer tip which many expect to be the new FBI issue round for their new 9mm pistols will be available after it is announced at SHOT.

QuoteTHE GOLD DOT 2 UPGRADE FEATURES A BULLET DESIGN THAT EXCELS IN THE FBI PROTOCOL FOR LE AMMUNITION. ITS SHALLOW, DISH SHAPED NOSE CONTOUR IS FILLED WITH ELASTOMER TO PROVIDE RAPID EXPANSION WHERE NEEDED AND MINIMIZE OVER PENETRATION WHERE ITS NOT. GOLD DOT G2'S UNI-COR CONSTRUCTION MOLECULARLY BONDS THE COPPER JACKET TO THE ALLOYED LEAD CORE, VIRTUALLY ELIMINATING SEPARATIONS.

This particular ammo may explain why the FBI selected the 9mm for their weapon of choice!

Time to change out the Nyclads in the 26.

We could only wish that Speer would make us 10mm guys a 200 gr Gold Dot, of similar design that will work well @ 1200 fps. ;)

But because there will be no contracts for such ammo they will not devote resources to such developments... ::)

Exactly what I was thinking. Might work well in 38 Super in addition to 9mm.

I'd load them in the 357Sig and 9x25Dillon just because! ;D  I wonder if we'll actually see other offerings like lighter bullet weights of 9mm and will this new trend extend to the 45ACP and 40S&W line of ammo? ???

I don't think we will see these as components anytime soon!  :(

I don't see why they wouldn't offer the bullets for sale to reloaders. They offer their standard Gold Dot to reloaders. The only thing that might keep them off the reloader's shelf is that SPEER needs them to make ammo for LE.

We may see older contract ammo hit the consumer sales or demilled items...

I am so fed up with the "law enforcement" "duty" marketing bull shit.  Its all the same bullets quit giving anti gun idiots arguments and politicians and DA's stupid ideas. I sent federal an email regardig this yesterday.  Tired tired tired of that crap.  They dont even put the good flash supressed powder in the HST "personal" defense 20rd box, saw a video tnoutdoors9 uploaded and the flash was visibky brighter than the "duty tactical" hst.

I don't have the source for this quote, sorry;
QuoteSME who is involved in testing the 9mm G2 ammunition.

Thank you, but we have had this ammo for a while. Unfortunately we were asked not to discuss the results. If possible, we'll try and put up some information in the near future. The Speer 9 mm 147 gr G2 is very good performing barrier blind ammunition! In fact modern 9 mm ammo like the G2 performs so well, that many large LE agencies are having no issues giving up larger caliber handguns in favor of easier shooting, more durable, higher capacity 9 mm handguns that offer terminal performance that only a few years ago was only possible with larger calibers like .40 S&W and .45 Auto.

+1

I get fed up with internet wannabe hostage rescue team operators looking on youtube for the best performing ammo in ballistic gelatin, and then claiming they know everything about self defense ammo.

I gave up looking for the perfect ammo 25 years ago. Now I usually just carry ball ammo.

Some people will do ANYTHING to justify the otherwise (to me personally) the weak 9mm....................   ???

When do the REAL calibers come out?   :P

If we buy enough of the Federal Trophy Bonded 180 gr SP and the Hornady Critical Duty 175 gr, maybe Speer will throw a little love our way. I think 10mm is gaining popularity.
